The actress who played his mother was one of the great “society dame” character actresses of all time. (as was Margret Dumont)

The last time I saw Franken was in a minor role in “The Missouri Breaks” decades ago.

Chatsworth, our family loved you and derived endless entertainment from your characterization and your relationship with “Mumsey.”
Rest in Peace - may you have one of the many mansions in God’s house.

My second favorite comedy of all time. Cool to see Captain Steubing play a royal feminine hygiene product as well.

There are still a surprising large number of survivors of this 1959-63 - 3 season TV show. Dwayne Hickman (Dobie Gillis), Warren Beatty (Milton Armitage) [Chatsworth’s predecessor in season 1], Tuesday Weld (Thalia Menninger) [Season 1] and Sheila Kuehl (Zelda Gilroy).
I remember them fondly, even though dimly, as I only saw it in reruns. Interestingly, it seems that it was the female antagonist (Thalia and successors) that kept drawing the naive Dobie into trouble. In today’s PC Hollywood, would the female lead be anything like this role?
Now if we built upon Mr Beatty’s later exploits and reputation as Hollywood’s leading roué, that would be a story.
R.I.P. Chatsworth, I’m getting old!

I had the biggest crush on Steve Franken as "Chatsworth". I was very young and didn't realize how old he was in reality. RIP
Does it seem like we are losing more elderly celebs this year than usual?
