Need Help With Picking Out Books
9-1-2012 | Self

I need help...I am a Vincy Flynn and Brad Thor addict...my wife has brought home from the library, and like Dale Brown books, I see right through their liberal crap...it is hard to find anything to fill the void while Vince and Brad ginn up the next ones...help me if you will with some authors who can hold my interest.

Silva is ok, but I don't care about stealing a Rembrant painting...I like conspiracy, spy, etc.

TOPICS: Books/Literature; Chit/Chat; Hobbies
KEYWORDS: flynn; thor; vanity
Thanks in advance.

It’s a minor change in genre, but John Ringo, Travis Taylor, Tom Kratman, and Michael Z Williamson appeal to this Brad Thor/Vince Flynn fan.

Not the same genre, but everyone to whom I’ve recommended the Flashman books by George McDonald Fraser has thanked me.

do you have a public Library or a Barnes & Noble store; I think they have tons of books, and they even make it possible to sit in their premises and “try ‘em out” first

Maybe W.E.B. Griffin? First book would be The Last Heroes. Another possibility might be David Baldacci. Last Man Standing would be the first book. I’ve not read either of these authors but they are popular in our library system with the customers, especially the men.

A friend of mine, Brian Freeman, particularly “Stripped” and “Stalked,” plus ANY of the “Pendergast” series by Preston and Child. Also, Nelson DeMille is very good, but a totally different pace than Flynn or Thor.

Pick blue and red ones - they look better on the shelves in your library.

I read a couple of Alan Furst novels and found them excellent. Not page-turners like Flynn. The plots are a little more intricate; the Cold War atmospheres are excellent.

I have heard Phillip Kerr is very good...one is waiting on my shelf for when I have time.

Graham Greene's "Human Factor" based on Kim Philby is also one that I will read soon.
