KFC razzes U.S. grads living with folks

NEW YORK, - Recent U.S. college graduates still living with their parents are getting the needle from KFC, a major purveyor of take-out comfort food.

As if those jaundiced looks from the parents weren't enough, jobless grads are now hearing it from their pals at KFC through an ad campaign making light of their having to move back home after four years -- or more -- of campus living.

Forbes said campaign -- with the tagline "Bite Size Chicken is all Grown Up" -- includes five "mini-shows" in which typical twenty-somethings confront changes that have occurred in their family dynamic and often their old bedrooms.

Forbes noted the subject matter could be a little touchy to members of their key demographic who may be having difficulty getting their adult lives on track. At the same time, it points viewers to a Web site that could solve their problem by offering a contest in which the top prize is a year's free rent and a yearlong supply of KFC.

At least they can enjoy some tasty chicken while staring at those fading obama posters on the wall.

They expect others to empathize when the real world does not guarantee anything. They feign empathy for others for appearances sake. They can’t handle the truth and think they’re good liars but they’re not fooling anyone except for their parents whose need to believe in their children ‘s exceptionalism is irrational.

...their having to move back home after four years -- or more -- of campus living.

I frequently suggest that parents sell or rent out the big family home and move to a one-bedroom condo when the last kid hits senior year in college. Of course, I AM looking to do the deals on the sale/lease and purchse...

Hussein’s worshippers declaring war on fried chicken?

Is this a racist thing, too, for the Fraud?

The dynamic has changed, fiercely. I know one young man who graduated with a good IT degree, and went to work at a good paying job with AMEX, but still had to live at home with his parents, because most of his pay was used up in repaying his student loan.

He and his parents sat down and figured that if he lived with them, he would be independent much quicker, by his late 20’s; but if he moved out, he would be in his mid-30’s before being able to afford some place to live, get married and have children.

And the odds of getting married and having children in your mid-30s are not so hot. And the kids will grow up with an old father, not one young enough to have fun with them.

To make matters much worse, few graduates ever get a good job right out of the chute, so still live close to the bone for close to a decade before they can even start paying off their student loans to a great degree.

“And the kids will grow up with an old father, not one young enough to have fun with them”.

I would rather people marry and start having a family when they are mature enough to handle the responsibilities than to start when they aren’t ready. I didn’t have my first till I was 31... and I am fun! A responsible, fun loving, Mom... rather than a young twenty something who goes to clubs, parties, etc... IMHO, getting married for life and bringing young lives into this world isn’t based on an age number...

Have you seen the Obama campaign's ad targeted at sofa stoners?

Dems/Obama Promote Convention By Having "Barack" Call Stoners (Harold & Kumar) (September 3, 2012 | RealClearPolitics)

"Hey, this is Barack," Obama says after he dialed Kumar on the phone. "Listen, I need to know if you're on board. Okay, good. Because I'm counting on you, everybody is. We have to get this right. So there is a lot at stake here. Just remember I am trusting you on this and I'll see you there."

The video then jumps to Kumar sitting on the couch with his stoner buddy, Harold.

"Who was that? It sounded intense," Harold said.

"It was the president," a stoned Kumar said while watching cartoons.

I'm going to propose that Burger King try the following advertising campaign:

You Suck Ass. But We'll Serve You Anyway.™

It would be a series of short viginettes about everyday people who suck in various ways. You'd have a wife beater, a crackhead, a corrupt cop, a cheating husband, an abusive boss, all acting out in their little bad ways. Then, it would conclude with a hot of a smiling Burger King employee happily handing over a scrumptious meal to the grateful suck-assers.

It would conclude with a deep-voiced announcer saying, "Yeah.... you suck ass. But we'll serve you anyway." and a jingle would play.

i got married at age 29. My husband and i waited until we had both graduated law school, passed the bar and had jobs before getting married. i had three kids by the time i was 38. My baby is having her first day as a senior in HS today. guess what? i am not in an old folks home, i don't use a walker and i still have my own teeth. so does my husband. your statement sounds ridiculous to me.
