I liked Joe’s song ‘Hush’, later covered by Deep Purple. I still have the 45.

I was in boot camp in ‘69 and that song sure made us sad. That and “Leavin’ On A Jet Plane”.

"Down In The Boondocks," "I Knew You When," "Children"
A GREAT GREAT songwriter. Most of his songs are damn near perfect.

Billy Joe Royal recorded several of his songs in the 1960s, including Down in the Boondocks and I Knew You When", RIP, Joe. Those were two of my favorite songs when I was a teenager.

One of my all time favorite snogs has been “Don’t it make you wanna go home”. Looking at the changes in places I used to go and even where I live makes the lyrics even more profound. I remember all his songs they were hits when I was growing up.

I’m a Deep Purple fan. ‘Hush’ was one of my favorites.

I was in boot camp in 69 and that song sure made us sad. That and Leavin On A Jet Plane. Another one I remember from BCT is "Some Day,We'll Be Together" by the Supremes.Guys would play that over and over at the PX.I didn't have a girl at the time so it didn't bother me that much but it sure got to a lot of guys.

In “A” School training there was a jukebox in the chow hall. Every week a new group of recruits would come in and play WHOLE LOTTA’ LOVE on the jukebox every day. I got so sick of that song and still can’t stand it.
