Former President Bill Clinton addressed the recent unrest in the Muslim world over a U.S.-made film insulting the prophet Muhammad, saying that while the underlying message is offensive, "you can't react every time you're insulted."
Clinton sat down with "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Charlie Rose and Norah O'Donnell to discuss his thoughts on the turmoil in the Middle East as the Clinton Global Initiative begins its annual meeting in New York City this week.

Clinton - Well, I’d say he’s missing the point, but from what has been published he’s merely bent it.
The entire “you cannot insult islam” meme is an element in requiring every human being to be subjugated by the politico-religion. If one is not allowed to speak out about things one finds wrong, then one has been effectively caged by the beast.
The proper response is something akin to “In the United States, we practice both freedom of speech and freedom of religion, because we understand that the second cannot exist without the first. Your insistence on abridging freedom of speech shows that you believe in neither freedom of religion or speech. The United States will not deny its citizens either freedom.”
I’d add something about sucking on a JDAM, but this is a family friendly forum. ;-P
Best advice they’ve ever had, though.
If there is going to be an insult hurled at Islam, don’t piddle around with videos or cartoons.
Fire a few rounds of heavy artillery or air-to-surface rockets with warheads into the Golden Dome on the Rock in Jerusalem, collapsing it into rubble. Drop a MOAB, otherwise known as a daisy-cutter, on the Kaaba at Mecca, detonating at 50 feet altitude, at the height of the hajj. If neither of these is particularly convincing, then follow it with a bunker buster at both sites.
Crusades should NEVER be pursued with half-measures. Unconditional surrender by both Germany and Japan seemed to be particularly effective. Both nations have given up their national goals of military superiority.
Very salutary lesson for just about everybody from Morocco to Indonesia, and most pointedly for Iran and Egypt.
