Eunuchs reveal clues to why women live longer than men

Castration had a huge effect on the lifespans of Korean men, according to an analysis of hundreds of years of eunuch "family" records.

They lived up to 19 years longer than uncastrated men from the same social class and even outlived members of the royal family.

The researchers believe the findings show male hormones shorten life expectancy.

The study is published in the journal Current Biology.

Castration before puberty prevents the shift from boy to man. One of the scientists involved in the study, Dr Cheol-Koo Lee from Korea University, said: "The records said that eunuchs had some women-like appearances such as no moustache hair, large breasts, big hips and thin high-pitched voice."...

Oh, they are just teasing. The fellow suggests that it isn't the testosterone, but the estrogen hasn't even taken into consideration the fact that deviants who have no use for women at all have a FAR shorter life expectancy still.

They did a study and found out that married men don’t actually live longer than single guys,, it just seems that way.

I think if they did a parallel study of (a)men who never marry and (b) rates of male deaths by occupation, and paralleled those results with occupations of eunuchs, they may find that a man’s occupation or marital status has just as much correlation with how long they live than whether or not they were a eunuch; thus, I think testosterone may not be as much the factor in the average life of eunuchs as is “life style” in terms of career and family life.

From everything I have read about eunuchs, though often classed as servants it was often a privileged servant class compared to the rough and tumble life of the ordinary citizen.
