Once again we have nominated a loser because the big money liberal leadership of both parties continue to give us choices detrimental to the United States Constitution. I'm voting for Paul Ryan and whatshisface but I am not sanguine that the reversal of one hundred years of socialist decline will be slowed much less reversed. There is no, unfortunately, "Gault's Gulch" where the oppressed believers in personal responsibility and individual freedom can escape to... ...at least not yet. I propose, if the Marxist wins, that we all collect our gold guns and groceries and meet in Texas to make it the final and, if God agrees once more, invincible redoubt of American liberty.

Go Gault? No thanks.

The title assumes an Obama win.

Galt’s Gulch is a descriptive metaphor. There are millions of Galt’s Gulches out there. Make your own and network.

You beat me to it. Willie Gault and Catherine Zeta-Jones are the Rick Astleys of Free Republic.

The difference is that Americans made those decisions in 1776 and 1861. Americans are a much reduced portion of the voting public.

We may need trenches—there are no online trenches—when the fascists jack boots come we will need a physical rendezvous where we can dig in.
Texas did it twice against both Mexico and the Union—it has a tradition of resistance to tyranny and the region is tailor made for resistance.

I think that the Free State Project picked the wrong state in New Hampshire. It is clear now that any picked state for such a project would have to be far from the nearest litter box (e.g. Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle) as cities refugees can easily counteract a small group of principled libertarian types.
You need small population, distance from big cities, especially coastal cities, and some openness of the existing populace to libertarian types. That means places like Wyoming (too close to Denver?), Alaska, or maybe North Dakota or Alaska.

in that last line I meant to say South Dakota instead of Alaska again.

When the MLB managers refuse to bring up the best of the Minor Leagues...
They don't care, they figure the fans are stupid enough to believe they are watching the best just cuz they ARE in the Big Leagues...to them the money is still the same and glad handing the Devil gives you a better chance of not drawing back a nub than punching Him.

I find it hard to believe you spelled “Galt” wrong ....
Have you read the book...?
If you are going “Gault” it might be helpful to know what actually happened in “Atlas Shugged”

I have said for a long time that NH needed to establish a Minuteman project on the MA line in about 1950.
Actually, I'm starting to think that what we need to do to save the country is not to take over a state with right thinking people but to fence off an area in the middle of nowhere (A square about 100 miles per side in the Nevada dessert would do it) Then drop all of the Progressives, Communists, and Beautiful people from CA and Cape Cod into this area so they can build their utopia there but they can't get out to escape the mess they create

The regions you suggest are good in their remoteness, natural resources and ease of defense but Texas has the same resources, semi-remoteness (far from the Leftist crowd at any rate) and an already established large population of patriots who have the Founders’ understanding of the 2nd Amendment.
Funny, I know my thread is fantastic speculation but if Obama wins it will be as if a solar eclipse proved the wild speculations of Einstein...OMG it is!
