Prepper tools
Vanity (hey, it's not a blog!) | 9/29/2012 | Outofsalt

I have been pondering emergency preparations for some time and enjoy the prepper threads from which I've learned a lot and have applied much. I was trying to find some good articles on essential tools for "a really bad day" scenario or, TEOTWAWKI. Many articles include things like cash and shelter and first aid. Even post it notes and looms have made some lists. I am looking for ideas for hand operated essentials and have my own list...Please help flesh out these ideas.

I’m giving them as part of Christmas gifts to family.

Marcella,

That is a great idea!

Marcella, That is a great idea!”

Be ready to tell the people you give them to, what it is and how to use it. You could include a can of something, show them how it goes on the can (the notch must be on the can), and let them practice with that can.

Sams Club has it and probably the best price, if not a member then most restaurant supply stores also carry it in bulk

A pair of 10" curve jawed vice-grips (with the wire cutter).

A pair of those will get you past a wide variety of mechanical fasteners, and chain link fence.

Also handy for cooking and rigging.

IMHO

In the cutting tools-saw category, I need to add a one man and a two-man cross-cut saw, and a couple more bow saws with spare blades. Chainsaws won’t be of much use in a long extended downtime without gas/oil and lubricants.

Reseach your questions. If illegals are smart enough to figure a way around FLIR you should be too.

CBP uses quite a few jack up thermal devices, but the illegals have learned to circumvent these with the plastic sheeting you can buy at Home depot. They just walk underneath it. Breaks up the heat signature from not only the heat signature from the jack ups but also from FLIR on the helos overhead.
