It does appear that the law restricts private sales to individuals who are ILLEGAL ALIENS. That is different than restricting all private sales. It has been the case since I got my FFL 7 years ago. Yes, anyone selling or transferring any firearm is required to ensure that they adhere to all local, State and Federal law. Not sure when it became law.

My personal take is that about 98% of all local, State and Federal firearms laws are unconstitutional. However, my opinion will not keep myself or anyone else out of jail should they or I be convicted for breaking said laws. I would not accomplish very much in the way of fighting these unjust laws from a cell at Leavenworth, so I have instead committed myself to educating, arming and enabling people to defend themselves and their freedoms.

223 ammo? Did you bring a forklift for that caliber? I can see how they might've been concerned. ;-)

So the Brits and Aussies who come here to compete and shoot should just go home to buy their ammo?

Got it.

I would think someone in Dick’s legal dept. and/or their liability insurance carrier decided they needed to “CYA”.

“Citizen?” Legal residents who aren’t citizens can legally buy firearms. On a related note, political speech has been crazy talk for some time, and it’s fun to laugh at.

Belay my last. Regardless of your opinion, the powers that be apply the law to mean that we FFL holders are responsible to know.
Do not interpret that to mean that I agree with it. However, my disagreement will not keep my or Dick’s management out of legal trouble should they ignore the law as interpreted by the BATF and DOJ. We are over a barrel on things like this. We have no option, but to cover our ass because the alternative is a 6’x8’ cell at Leavenworth.
Now you can choose to call that going along with those tyrannistas who interpret it (like the person you posted to). Or perhaps, you can call our patriotism into doubt as he also did. I offer you an alternate scenario.
Maybe we are 12 year veterans of the U.S. Navy, who have received combat pay. Maybe we became gunsmiths because our bodies were pretty much trashed while in the service, so we looked for a less physical trade that served a higher calling (think the Right to Keep and Bear Arms). Perhaps we really do not make money hand over fist, but instead just make enough to keep at it and keep the doors open.
With some perspective on the issue, maybe those who claim the moral high ground as the self-described ultimate defenders of freedom, can see that those who have to obey these ridiculous laws everyday do not necessarily agree with the laws.

Dick's is irrelevant and unlawful. See comment #168.

Dick's will probably be the object of a class action lawsuit for legal residents if not also for violations of privacy against citizens.

I would assume that it is your state Game and Fish Department or its equivalent that requires that information, not the Dick’s store.

If you can go to another place and get one without providing it, Then yeah, I’ll agree with you, They demand too much information, and I’d go elsewhere.

"Let illegals and foreigners go back to where they came from to get their ammo."

Illegals won't care about your comment or change any of their habits. Conservative legal residents from English-speaking, western culture nations would reply that you can shut up.

And to head off the usual false accusation in reply, I'm an American citizen from birth, BTW, and my first American ancestor landed in 1669. He was a real Protestant. And I did serve. This is my United States of whatever!

We're not going to bust up western culture alliances and families with generalizing comments against "foreigners" who want to be Americans for the sake of being real Americans (excludes those who've only been coming here only for "the gold!" since the middle of the 1800s).

If what Dick’s was doing was “the law” as you claim, then Walmart and everyone else would be doing it also. But they aren’t.

The two bills against all out-of-state orders for ammunition are strategically noticeable, politically speaking. Enormous numbers of “main street” interests are wanting to support one of those bills for local revenues, including local firearms vendors, their friends in local police agencies (who use them as CIs: confidential informants), local government politicians, teachers, appointees, regulators, other employees...the whole political/regulator class, dependent on pork to their locales from Uncle Sam.

You sure she wasn't just flirting with you?

Being carded at such an advanced age can be annoying, but I usually thank them.

Look, I get that alcohol is age restricted and even the self checkouts make a clerk ok the purchase. Works for me. Even on Sunday.

And I understand that over the counter cough syrup and allergy meds aren't over the counter any more and why. I'm ok with that. You might as well add Skittles and Arizona Iced whatever to the list while you're at it.

But being carded for a 4 pack of BiC lighters that were on sale? Or a can of spray duster? What am I missing here?

The cashier wasn't surprised when I declined to buy the 4 pack. She told me that's what most people do.

I provided you the regulations. Direct links to the BATF website. Unfiltered, no BS straight info for you to interpret as you please. Feel free to gin up your useless indignant disagreement. There is not much else I can do that I have not. Feel free to sell some ammo to an illegal alien. Your choice. However, you will show your courage of conviction if you then call the BATF and tell them that you did so, which is what a FFL holder would be doing if they sold some to an illegal alien. The law is clear cut. Please, feel free to be the test case. You are such a hero, go ahead and put your freedom where your loud, self-righteous mouth is. (last sentence deleted because I would lose my longstanding FreeRepublic presence).

Dick's couldn't care less if you are a citizen or not. That device you are supposed to tap is actually a finger print scanner that sends your finger print to the government so they will know who is stockpiling ammo.

I find ANY bill that restricts the free flow of commerce between individuals and/or states to be abhorrent and unconstitutional. Those ammo bills are shit created by tyrants.
