Target makes you give them your driver's license to scan first before they'll sell you BIC lighters or that compressed air in a can for cleaning dust off of your keyboard.

I was buying beer in Texas once and they wanted to scan my DL.
The clerk could clearly see that I was 50 years old and not a teen.

I said Really?
She insisted and said that it must be scanned.
Miffed, I gave it to her.
She said this license is 3 days expired (the state had not sent me a renewal notice)
I said it may be expired but it is a state document that clearly states my age.
She wasn’t buying it, she was a rube in a big box store.
I handed her my CHL and said is this a valid
State document?

Yessir.

Annoying, but hardly an infringement.

And quite frankly I could have walked across the street and made the purchase no questions asked.
