At Milkwood Farm we love both our rocket stove water heater and our mini rocket stove, but with winter taking hold I’m dreaming of new ideas, so I thought I’d review what else is out there.

DIY rocket stove technology is exploding world-wide at the moment – here’s a couple of the treasures I’ve come across:

Uh huh. I love how you defensively portray yourselves as unselfish yet every third thread is about how to hide your preps from your neighbors.

Right now there is plenty of water and food so storing either one is not hoarding. When there is little to be had, we won’t be needing that so it can go to those who need it.

I prepare for myself and two ultra-liberal family members who don’t have squat and won’t store anything. Am I going to laugh at them when there is a collapse - no, I’m going to water and feed them because I love them and they will pitch in and help in any way they can. I can’t save the world, but I can save them.

If we were going to the “company store” and stealing stuff that is scarce, then we could be called selfish. Using our own money to buy items that are plentiful now, is our business.

“unAmerican and contemptible...When you cross that line I think it’s appropriate to mock and ridicule you.”

It’s silly of you to think being self sufficient is “unAmerican and contemptible”.

Yardstick intends to be one of the beggers that thinks her ‘ridicule’ will force you to give her everything that you have, as though we’re all as thin skinned as she is.

I would rate that particular video as a dud, if he was really trying to demonstrate how to do it.

To bad for them but I quit taking guilt trips a long time ago.

They don't want anyone to prepare or if they do they want them to put up a sign saying that the food is down in the basement, the silverwear is in the third drawer down and please don't hurt us.

Even nice people have a tendency to talk which is why I don't tell people what I have. By the time the neighborhood quit playing telephone I would have a Wal-Mart and six tons of gold in the attic. I would rather not have to deal with home invaders. Blood is hard to get out of drapes.

Having supplies for a few weeks is probably smart as I’ve said. But the whole prepper thing really isn’t about being prepared. It’s about wishing to see America suffer for its sins. The mindset is similar to the environmentalist left. They’ll say it’s about clean air and clean water but we know that deep down it’s really an angry critique of free interprise. Likewise, the prepper mindset is about more than just being prepared. It’s really an angry critique of wayward post-Constitutional, post-Christian America. In some ways I sympathize with it, but at the same time I know that the rage is not healthy. Prepperism is a case study in letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.

“It’s about wishing to see America suffer for its sins.”

Listen, liberal, stop trying to tell people why they do what they do and keep your nose out of other people’s business. You haven’t a clue why people prep, but, like a liberal, you want to tell them they have bad motives you don’t like so you hate them.

Yes, you do. You desire, covet, thy neighbors goods, all the while proclaiming to be Christian. You are far from a Christian. You use the Lord’s name is vain to vilify your neighbors that prepare in His name to defend themselves from evil.

Objection!

Comfy shoes are a survival necessity. An argument can be made that rags are necessary as well but that is more of a gray area. :)

Preppers are, by and large, a generous bunch.

Doubtful the same can be said for yourselves.

We ants find much to mock and ridicule about you grasshoppers.

You are most un-american in your sloth, and dismissal of our grave situation, caused by others much like yourself, that vote without regard for the good of others; only for the free stuff you can get the state to steal for you.
