I don't mean to pee on the parade of all the Mitt fans here. But did anybody else notice how Romney threw the Tea Party and conservatives in general under the bus tonight. He has disavowed every conservative position he has ever PRETENDED to take.
I am pissed.
Step 1: Vote Romney in to the presidency
Step 2: Watch the radicals pack their *hit and leave DC
Step 3: Give Romney 4 years to do the right thing
Step 4: If he turns out to be the same old liberal he was as governor, then we vote his ass out.. maybe do a third party.
In any case we need to stop the bleeding now and get some relief and time to re-group.
“I did not watch the debate live”
I DID WATCH IT LIVE. WE HEARD A MORE COGENT DEFENSE OF CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES LIKE FEDERALISM, FREE MARKETS, LOWER SPENDING, THE LAFFER CURVER (LOWER RATES GROWS THE ECONOMY), AND THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT AS PROTECTOR OF OUR RIGHTS.
TONIGHT, MILLIONS OF NON-CONSERVATIVES HEARD SOME CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES DEFENDED BETTER THAN IN ANY PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE IN DECADES.
MCCAIN NEVER SAID IT AT ALL.
GW BUSH NEVER SAID IT THIS WELL.
ROMNEY DID.
“Mitt say that he will start eliminating any and all programs that are not important enough to fund by borrowing more national debt money from China.”
That alone was AWESOME.
Allow me to offer a hearty AMEN before I’m banned as a rombot ... that is the little insult word that was popular a month or so ago, right?
“did anybody else notice how Romney threw the Tea Party and conservatives in general under the bus tonight.”
I have to say I didn’t notice anything like that. At all.
And you just registered in May 2012 to be able to say this???
Good article eltee. Hadn’t seen that before; I just hope that some of the “I WON’T VOTE FOR ROMNEY” folks, who call themselves conservatives have enough sense to read it and understand whats at stake. Romney was not my choice in candidates, but he is what I have now. Kind of like the choice between strychnine poisoning (Romney), and cyanide poisoning (Obunghole). Strychnine poisoning can be treated and you can get over it; cyanide poisoning just kills you outright.
EXACTLY; its called triage on the battlefield.
Until tonight, the fear was out there that Romney might be a closet liberal posing as a conservative. Now I think he might be a closet Reagan posing as Bob Dole.
Superman just took off his glasses and entered the phone booth. And the kryptonite guy looks nervous, he knows what happens next.
Perfect analogy.
Mitt is the only Republican that I know of who moved more to the right after the primaries. He definitely positioned himself as the moderate, generic guy during the primary debates and didn’t give out many specifics.
In retrospect, that probably was a chess strategy. He rode the moderate vote to victory while the more conservative GOP factions tore themselves apart.
IBTZ!
Get with the program!
There is a president in need of ousting. Your more-conservative-than-thou commentary is irrelevant until 7 November.
A positive outcome will be that it remains relevant after that date!!
When, hopefully, there will be enough new senators to ensure WMR etches the right sketch. In the meanwhile, your natterings reduce that likelihood!
In some minor ways. But I heard Mitt talk about the 10th Amendment A LOT and about the Free Market A LOT and those are NOT liberal ideals.
On, off, at, -out, in your pants? Elucidate, o mighty word slinger.
Not so fast; Jonty may be onto something...
Boooooo hisssssss
If Romney gets in, we’ll have to fight to keep him on the straight and narrow; I don’t think anyone believes otherwise.
But, dude, seeing him whip up on the Kenyan last night was a thing of beauty. With every blow, Obama’s mouth puckered up just a bit tighter.
BTW, are you going to come back and respond at all?
I registered here because I thought this was a home for REAL conservatives and not just Romney cheerleaders. It still is, right?
I get that. But I still cannot get on the rah-rah Romney bus. He is a socialist.
Dunno. Perhaps you should tell us what you believe?
My posting history is clear that I have never been a Romney fan. I definitely have issues with him, and we’ll have to make sure he toes the line.
But the past few weeks, with the meltdown of Obama’s Mideast policy and his utter lack of caring about dead Americans and conquered embassies, have convinced me that I need to vote for Romney. If Obama gets another four years, I’m afraid the Muslims will find a way to hit us with a nuke.
