I, personally, would be surprised if blacks didn’t overwhelmingly vote for a black candidate. Most blacks thought Clarence Thomas should have been confirmed and O.J. should have been acquitted. I don’t think it’s healthy for our society, but I accept that that is the way it is.

I wish more blacks would recognize that their real interest lies in opportunity, not hand outs. I know a lot of blacks who have self-respect and intelligence, and resent the condescension flowing from the likes of buffoons like Biden and the Clintons. But, they vote for the Democrats none-the-less.

I even know one black Freeper personally, he is a dude who has his stuff together, and he cordially despises liberals of every stripe and color. And he despises Obama and would never vote for a Democrat. But his kind are few and far between.

Which raises the question: does Obama having won an election, change the situation for good?

Up until the last election, nobody believed a black could win the presidency.

Well a black man won the presidency. With a gathering of black votes from both sides of the aisle, and a huge bunch of whites as well.

I suspect the tide has begun to change now. Slowly.

Obama will still win a majority of black votes, but some will judge him. Because he won, and now is just another former president.

I believe Obama was necessary.

But I hope some blacks will use their heads this time.

I say the answer is no. They support Obama because he’s a leftist. If he were conservative they would’nt support him.

I disagree. I think if the Republicans have a black man running, like West or Cain, they'd get a least half the black vote. Whenever we have a black conservative running for anything, it's more the white liberals who talk the trash and stir up all the racial issues. In fact, the quickest way to get a white liberal to use the word "nigger" is to show them a black conservative.

What have they done with that Freedom, that integration, that discrimination.

There are a some blacks who have done well, the others call them Uncle Toms.

The others still need Affirmative action for jobs, they kill each other in gang killings, they are high on drugs, they live in ghetto’s the rely on welfare and free health care, crime is rampant in their communities,and they vote for more entitlements.

Some can be proud, others are just a pain in America’s ass, doesn’t matter, they all but 5% of them vote for a mullatto no one ever heard of who has no idea how American blacks live because he isn’t an American black, he was raised in Hawaii by whites,and never lived in a ghetto,never experienced racism and had everything handed to him on a silver platter.His claimed Daddy was not an American he was an African drunk.Yet they elected him just because he is half black.

Here in Pennsylvania we had a black football star (Lynn Swann) running against white Ed Rendell. The news reported that Rendell won the black vote pretty handily. Are there any elections where the black republican won the black vote? I can’t think of any.

Nearly all blacks seem to have an a priori commitment to the Democratic party. There have been studies in which researchers interview blacks about their positions on issues. If a black interviewee expresses a conservative position on an issue--say against abortion or in favor of lower taxes--the interviewer will explain that the Republicans agree with him and the Democrats disagree. What then usually happens is that the black interviewee will change his position on the issue to align with the Democrats rather than view the GOP more favorably.

Blacks have been so propagandized that Republicans are all Klansmen and slave masters that they have a psychological block that prevents them from ever voting for the GOP. (Not to mention that it is no fun to be called "Uncle Tom," "Oreo", etc.)

So for the most part blacks support Obama because he is a Democrat. The fact that he is black does, however, increase voter turnout and enthusiasm for him.

I think Obama won because white (and) black all ignored his qualifications and voted for the black guy.

He is a miserable president. But he is a black guy. And he won the election.

Since then, America has fallen (far).

Enough that a lot of democrats are discouraged. Obama won his election and opened up our politics, but he is now damaging our nation.

A lot of whites did ignore his qualifications.

Most blacks, however, never pay attention to qualifications to begin with. They just vote for the ones with the D next to their name.

Are there any elections where the black republican won the black vote? I can’t think of any.

I can't either, off the top of my head, but we don't exactly have a huge pool of data to draw from. Also, when the news said the Dem won the blak vote "handily", what does that mean? The usual 96%? Or just 70%? Or can we even trust what the news says, anyway?

As it stands now, blacks favor democrats, because the democrats give them more free stuff and more special rights.

With mean IQs of 85, per many studies, most blacks will easily follow strong leaders.

Lyndon Johnson knew he was trading conservative whites, for blacks when he pushed for “civil rights.”

In turn, Goldwater 1964 then Nixon 1968 saw the southern white voter as easy pickings, since the democrat party effectively had left them behind.

Not much has occured since that trade.
