The Economic Collapse Blog ^ | 10/18/12 | Simple Man

Are we on the verge of societal collapse? Many of the greatest empires throughout world history were not conquered by outside forces. Rather, they crumbled inwardly as extreme social decay set in. There have been many that have compared the last days of the Roman Empire to what America is going through right now. In the decades following World War II, the United States was the most powerful and the most prosperous nation on the entire planet, but now things are rapidly changing. There are literally thousands of signs that our society is collapsing all around us.

I could have made a similar list 40 years ago. Probably anytime in history, if there had been 24-7 news outlets.

I think when you have a blog called economic colapse you’re kind of disposed to look for the worst.

Claire Wolfe has been blogging lately about how many people seems to be getting this ominous feeling. Even people who would normally dismiss such things.

The most profound element of the decay is the highly vocalized demand by women to have the lawful and moral right to kill human life. Apparently their sense of liberty is based on the right to kill. The virtuous gender, eh?

I don’t have a problem with the requirement the state keeps its hands off their “bodies”, but that concern is only raised when it involves the right to kill human life. No doubt a vast majority of these same women have no problem with the govt run health care that will infringe on their “bodies” in ways never seen before.

Abortion represents the ultimate decay in our society.

If abortion was an easy issue, it wouldn’t be problem, but because it’s difficult doesn’t mean we need to settle on the side that involves killing. Need a pass on the guilt, whatever, I don’t care. We need to move “Forward”, and find a way to spare innocence.

One’s liberty should not be defined by the right to kill human life.

It is that feeling. It is strange my wife who always made fun of me for wanting to load up on ammo, water and food in the last months has been just as fanatical about getting our house prepared. I don’t know what to call that feeling. It is like a intuition of something bad coming down the road. It is just weird.

“#17 According to shocking new research by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately two-thirds of all Americans in the 15 to 24 year old age bracket have engaged in oral sex.”

Prior to the age of Clinton, it would have been impossible to imagine that people under age 25 would even consider having oral sex, bit now 66% do.

We may never recover from the age of Clinton and our under 25 population will continue to be victimized.

That was a very sad list of things going on in our country.
Sometimes, it seems that life is imitating the arts, or bad films at least.

The time is nigh, fellow freepers:

.....Well, the time may not be as nigh as some think, but it never hurts to prepare.

We're there.

Kart, it’s like this - I live in a town, not a big city, so I’m okay - not. There was an article on FR last week about a husband and wife in their jewelry store and three people, (I think it was two men and a woman but I could have that wrong), with guns rushed into the store. The husband began to fight with them and got one of the guns and began shooting. Two of the three were caught and one was still at large at that time. Now, they have him.

THAT JEWELRY STORE WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM MY HOUSE! That last man was still at large when I read that. I went to my front door immediately to make sure I had locked the glass door. I have a metal door behind the glass one but keep the metal one open during the day so my Yorkie can see what’s going on outside in the daytime. I keep that glass door locked, but did I make sure it was locked that morning?

That was really a blow to me to know that happened so close to my house. I check that glass door every morning without fail now.

I have been living alone now since a year ago this past August and there is no one but me to make sure I’m safe. I can’t afford to forget security.

It really pisses me off that Hussein has bodyguards and I don’t. If he has them, then isn’t it a moral, legal government right that I should have them, too? I demand the right to have free bodyguards. Where is my poster paper and a Marks A Lot - I can protest outside the White House.

FREE BODYGUARDS FOR EVERYONE!

My mother, who considers “roughing it” to mean a hotel without a swimming pool, went out to the firing range last weekend and shot a gun for the first time in her life. She bought half a bushel of tomatoes and asked me to can them up as spaghetti sauce, and is talking about borrowing my old shotgun sometime so she can try her hand at deer hunting.

There’s definitely something in the air these days!

Do you disagree with the writer’s view that are society is in decline and do not believe the reasons he lists as being the reason for the decline?

Claire Wolfe has been blogging lately about how many people seems to be getting this ominous feeling. Even people who would normally dismiss such things.

I had that way back in 2008 when I came back from Iraq (where, doncha know we were defending the Constitution!*) ... only to find the country willing to let such things as constitutional requirements for president go unchecked.

Investigations into our legal system have only illustrated this unease, and indeed illuminated the cause: injustice. I found several statutes (and policies/regulations) that were blatantly contrary to my State's constitution... and when I would try to raise the issue with a public official I would either get the brush-off [dismissed out-of-hand] or redirected to someone else. Later, after moving out of that state to another one, I found a similar inconsistency and investigates: apparently there is no way for you to challenge a contraconstitutional statute without breaking the statute: this means that you must argue from a position of weakness [the accused] rather than a position of power [an innocent citizen raising alarm at illegalities]. (IOW: the game is rigged, you cannot win, even if your case is honestly black and white)

On the federal level we have Fast & Furious, which illustrates one glaring thing: government agents are above the law. That operation was on its face undoubtedly state sponsored terrorism and, arguably, treason... yet nothing has happened, and nothing will.

Add to this the selection of Romney, even before the primaries, a known socialist and virtually an Obama clone so far as politics is concerned... and the improprieties that occurred at the national convention (the VA delegation's bus circling the convention so they missed an important vote, the "ayes have it" on the teleprompter before the vote was finished incident, the content of the new rules regarding delegates) and it becomes clearer and clearer that the Republican party is not about to start striving for its stated platform planks.

This all culminates in one stark conclusion: you, the peon, have no say in what happens -- you are powerless before the god that is the state.
Or, as the Declaration put it: But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — this 'feeling' is the dawning realization that there is very, very likely bloodshed in our near future, "Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins." {A little out of context, but still applicable when one thinks of God as the Raiser and Destroyer of Nations and that God does destroy nations due to their wickedness and injustices.}

* -- I have a theory that it's that sort of inconsistency which is the cause of [prevalence of] PTSD/mental-health issues in our troops: we're told to go and fight for something, and that something is near-dead and despised when we get home... and anything you can do about it [as a soldier] "is wrong."
