Romney has become all things to all voters. A chicken in every pot, be it Tea Party or not...

Where's Waldo? No, where's Romney.

Who knows where he will be or what political position he will change or pivot on. On one page you look for Waldo, er, I mean Romney, and you find him among a crowd of Tea Partiers, on the next page he is standing among a crowd of moderates, and then on yet another page he is hanging out with Democrats!

Romney will without reservation repeal OdumbaCare! Now he likes the idea of keeping the policy of covering pre-existing conditions, and likes the idea of extending to age 26 staying on the parent(s) health insurance. Who knows what else and how much he will pivot on and decide to keep.

Romney signed a pledge for a federal constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Then later says that the states should decide.

Romney goes hard core on the issue of illegal immigration, then recently says that he likes Obama's position on not deporting certain illegals who meet a certain criteria and who came here at a certain age. True conservatives were not pleased.

All of this is but the tip of the iceberg. Many threads on far more political positions and Romney's reversals on them have been posted. Rinolist.org - check it out.

The book "Morris Dictionary of Word and Phrase Origins" is a must for every bookshelf. If you peruse its pages, you will find a certain comment from a certain person who said that there are times when some politicians feel the need to rise above convictions.

Romney apparently has felt that need.

Virgil Goode for president and all R's down ballot? Does that sound too bad? Everyone votes as they will. It is up to each to decide.

Hopefully there will be more Tea Partiers in the House and Senate, with the GOP controlling the House and Senate. Even if Romney wins, he (being a RINO at heart) will end up fighting with elected Tea Partiers on a host of issues, thus weakening the Tea Party, as the MSM will side with a RINO over the Tea Party.

But if Romney doesn't win... a clear distinction between the Tea Party in the House and Senate with Obama's policies - would that be a bad thing?

You will have a chance to sway Romney on whatever issue you want.... (Better become a good salesman)

The Truth of Christianity has not swayed the Lies of MORMONism in over 65 years for him.

You know, I’m not voting for my fairy Godmother, I realize the limitations of a man and there is no man out there that would please even all of us on FR.

Are there ANY MORMONs posting on FR that would rather have a NON-mormon running against Barak, so that the Evangelicals would be on board?

Ronald Reagan had a core set of principles that he stood on and would not move from. Can you honestly say the same about Romney?

YES!

They may NOT be reported, but I'm am QUITE sure he has them!

For an example, has it EVER been reported where he has spoken of the vows he has taken in a MORMON temple?

Some things in like are certain:

the sun will rise,
time will pass,
and SoConPubbie will show up to bitch about Mitt Romney.

Howdy Ma'am!

No; we don't like Romney either; but he's a LOT better than that durn ol' Obama!"

If we don’t all get together and vote for Romney, Obama will win.

Faust has said that he approves this message.

So I agree with you, but I see Obama, frankly, as possibly the seed of Hagar and Romney as simply a Gentile, outside the people of God.

MORMONism has RE-defined the word 'gentile' to mean ANYONE (yes, JEWS, too!) who is NOT a MORMON.

The idea is to build a broad coalition of voters who either like you, or like you more than the other guy.

Or who at least don’t hate your guts so much, they’ll suicide rather than let you win.

As I read the fevered anti-Romney screeds, it strikes me that some people would rather endure tyranny and the disintegration of America than even say something neutral about Romney.

Or maybe they are all clever agents provocateur hoping to either suppress the Romney vote so they can say:”Toldya” or to foment some sort of pathetic and futile Street Revolution.

I’ve been here since 2000, so I’ve seen this behavior, posted under different handles, before. The same sorts of accusations were made of W and of McCain, with the same gush of hatred. All by True Conservatives (tm): “We’ve got principles so it doesn’t matter if we lose!”

Tell me, as passionate as you are, how much of your wealth and time did you dedicate to moving a suitable candidate forward in the primary? You want to give lectures on purity, so let's here it. How pure were you? Or are you just feeling self-righteous?

Any purity or righteousness I may have, was a gift of grace from my Lord and Savior.

With regards to my time and money and wealth, I have been employed for 6 of the last 8 months and barely keeping my head above water before that.

Furthermore, none of this is your business and has nothing to do with holding the line where Christian, Conservative principles are concerned.

You've got a whole bushel of Red Herrings there buddy!

That should have read:

With regards to my time and money and wealth, I have been un-employed for 6 of the last 8 months and barely keeping my head above water before that.

You've purposefully, and deceitfully mis-labeled the posts of those refusing to vote for Mitt Romney.

Each of us has laid out in simplicity, and completeness, as to why we won't vote for Romney, not because we hate him, but because he hates our Christian values, and apparently hates God enough, that he is willing to support both the Murder of unborn innocents, and a sinful lifestyle that God himself calls an Abomination.

I presented no red herrings. You are acting like there are better options than the two on the table and there aren’t. Romney or Obama are going to be president. Its that simple.

Your point is that Romney isn’t supportable, because he doesn’t hit all your wickets, especially religious wickets.

Fine, I had much the same view during the primaries, although I don’t find his Mormonism a big issue within the confines of the Constitution. I supported a different candidate (who also didn’t hit all my wickets) during the primaries. In fact, Romney was my last choice. None of the candidates were conservative enough for me, but I chose the one that I thought was best and backed them. They lost.

Now we are in a totally different election, with a different set of options.

Is there any situation in which Obama is a better choice than Romney? No. Is voting for a 3rd candidate going to move the GOP to the right at this point? No.

Other than sour grapes, what are you trying to achieve?

I've been here just a bit longer, and I have seen the milquetoasts of FR say,

“We’ve got negotiable principles so it doesn’t matter if we elect a RINO or not!”

Who really cares if he/she is a heretic as well?

You can take chemo and be uncomfortable, but survive, or you can die of cancer.

I’ll take the RINO over the Marxist. With one, there is still some room for improvement. A RINO is less likely to coerce our personal values and beliefs, while a Marxist is guaranteed to do so. Besides, a Conservative, having to run against 70% of the population, will always lose, so there simply isn’t any rational argument.

There is the emotional argument, however. It’s just that it has no real upside in the real world. People go on about Third Parties, but look at all the countries that have multiple parties. They end up being coalitions, so even when the relatively more conservative parties win, they must negotiate and end up indebted to the extremists. They don’t last long in power, either.

If the True Conservatives cannot sway the majority here, on FR, how much chance do they have out there in the big wide real world? It simply won’t happen, so it is a waste of time to continually rant hatefully against anyone who doesn’t meet a rigidly held list of requirements.

I suppose there is personal satisfaction in absolutism. It certainly works that way for the smug absolutists on the other side. I think it is better to live one’s most deeply held values and act as an example to win hearts and minds. Eventually, that might go the furthest towards countering the inculcations of the Left. Simply attacking anyone not up to one’s standards only away pushes even the people who are sympathetic to your POV. Calling someone a heretic sends total chills down the spines of many because it implies some sort of State Belief System which is no more attractive from the Right than from the Left.

The Left is learning that it is not possible to successfully legislate values and remain popular. It is destroying their own coalition. We could learn from that.
