The .40 caliber gun did not have a safety and had not been secured in a holster, I'll bet the pistol has three safeties and
they are all dis-engaged when he pulled the trigger.

Cop Guilty of Accidental Negligent Gun Discharge in Southridge
He reached for the gun to stop it from sliding down and it discharged pulled the trigger.
The .40 caliber gun did not have a safety [safety is between a shooter's ears] and had not been secured in a holster [apparently there was nothing between this guy's ears], according to the complaint.

He's lucky he didn't emasculate himself (which is probably a better outcome that what actually happened)

Yep, disturbing that he’s trying to absolve himself of responsibility for this negligent shooting by blaming his weapon.

I’m not a cop but I carry a gun every day. This has never happened to me.

This reminds me. I’m in the market for an ankle holster. If anyone has suggestions I’ll be back later to check.
Thanks!

Won’t happen to me either...mine is not a Glock. Most LEO accidental discharges happen with a Glock, according to a close friend who is a Deputy Sheriff and President of their FOP.

What the hell is an "accidental discharge?" Oh you mean NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE. That makes more sense.

I have a “friend” who owns five Glocks. This has never happened to my “friend” either.

I carry often, as well. I never conceal carry a GLOCK.
They’re great for holster carry, but not otherwise.

If this was a private citizen, the Police Chief would be on television demanding tougher gun laws and revoking carry laws for citizens.
This is not right, that police aren’t held to the same standard the public is. They should be held to HIGHER standards because they always say THEY are the trained professionals and only THEY know how to use guns correctly.

Since I was nine years-old I’ve been trained to keep my finger off the trigger until I want to put a hole in something. The ignition system of a Glock is not all that different, in my mind at least, from a revolver. I have not had a problem anything like the one this cop has had

Cop Guilty of Accidental Gun Discharge in SouthridgeThere is no such thing as an accidental discharge.A negligent discharge is caused by either ignorance or carelessness.
The person can be considered ignorant, if they have not been trained.
They are careless, if they disregard their training.
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use
