Okay, the Coupon Stars have properly aligned again so I can get pretty much any food I want for FREE for the next few weeks. I already have a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka which I traded for in my South Florida Barter King guise and will supplement that with iced coffee in order to stay awake until late at night watching the returns.
So what snack food would go good with these drinks? I don't want anything too heavy. Just light and fun to eat. Sushi sounds like a good idea but what else? I am open to suggestions.
Maybe I’ll have something I haven’t eaten in a long time: caviar.
The popcorn, btw - is a given, goes perfect with Schadenfreude :)
Chicken nuggets from big bird, and cookies from the Cookie Monster.
Sake warmed to 105 degrees.
Skittles, lots and lots of skittles.
Unicorn meat from the hind quarter.
Romney fans... Goose pate, “foie gras”, on pumpernickel, w/ Grey Poupon..
Obama fans.. Roasted Crow, on Cracker payback Crisp, w/ Watermellon.. :)
That's a good one. Not awfully expensive for one or two people. Won't be "the filler," but it is a nice side.
Another good snack thingamabob is veggies and veggie dip. Another is either salted assorted nuts, or some nuts in the shell if you feel like a minor workout every once in awhile.
A good American sparkling wine and Li’l Smokies in BBQ sauce consumed to the tune of “Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa.
I don’t know. In 2008 the only thing on the menu was Wild Turkey. This time, I might ask the wife to make little hot dogs and I’ll be swigging some fully caffeinated Diet Coke so I can stay up and watch 0’s concession speech. At that point, we’ll probably break out our usual celebration food - ice cream, brownies, and sour dough pretzels. Can’t wait.
Homemade egg-rolls....potstickers (there are some good frozen ones)... mini sausages— wrap some and mini-crock some...very crunchy veggies for any tense moments...chexmix for those who don’t like crunchy veggies...mini cheese cakes...hot chocolate, hot cider, eggnog.
Coffee, nothing is much good without coffee.

IRISH NACHOS——deelish
Oven-brown waffle-cut fries (Alexia brand is best) on sheetpan.
Place single layer in foil or other oven-ready pan.
Layer on crisp cooked bacon crumbles, diced tomato, and whatever else you might like.
Blanket w/ shredded Cheddar cheese. Oven-melt cheese hot and bubbly.
SERVE topped w/ dollop sour cream, jalapeno slices, sliced black olives, and the like.
My favorite celebration meal has always been a crispy roast duck half with some kind of fruit sauce (preferably duck l’orange), wild rice and chocolate mousse cake for dessert.
Oh, most important — don’t forget the escargot appetizer.
What I'm going to have is some Orange juice, Pineapple juice and Apple Cider and some oranges, Apple slices and celery sticks..
Chic-Fil-A?
I’ll be watching MSNBC..ah hahaha
Top that off later with Amaretto or Bailey's Irish Creme.
My Yorkie drinks with me - I stick my little finger in the alcoholic drink and she licks it off my finger. She is only allowed one finger because I don't know what a drunk Yorkie would be like. Some liberal would probably turn me in to Doggie Social Services and they would take her away.
Cask Strength McCallan. Maybe some ice, but maybe not. Certainly nothing else needed that night.
That sounds really good. I made waffle fries and chili for the Super Bown.
My son stir-frys potato chunks with chopped bell peppers and onions. I’ve put chuck eye in there, and it’s my favorite dish. I swear the chuck eye is as good as a ribeye steak tail.
You have to taste the Irish Nachos to discover how scrumptious they really are.
Bacon lovers can have a ball-—use as much as you want.
Course you can never have enough. Make a separate dish of bacon slices, if you want to be decadent.
I love the pre-cooked bacon slices-—they crisp up in a jif-—then crumble 1-2-3 over the hot browned potatoes.
I also like the Sargento shredded sharp Cheddar—melts up nicely.
