I think we may have been hyped. I went to weather.com and pulled up the five day forecast for DC. NY, Boston, Binghamton,NY and York,Pa.

In none of the forecasts was there any suggestion of flooding or rains over 1 inch, or of winds over 40 miles per hour. One would think if the world were coming to an end due to weather, it would show up somewhere in the local forecast.

You do not know what you are talking about. I live in York PA and we are under a high wind warning and a flood watch – forecast of 3” to 6” of rain by tomorrow evening and sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 60 to 70 mph for the next 24 hours.

I’m not panicking nor do I think it is going to be the end of the world but I’ve been through enough nor’easters and tropical storms to know not to take them lightly. I saw firsthand the flooding here from last year’s TS Lee, saw the roads washed out, houses and businesses flooded including the business I work for, and that was without 60 – 70 mph wind gusts.

Hey genius, you can’t get flood insurance around where the storm is coming.

Your friend on the north shore of Long Island did not face the surge. A few of my neighbors on the south shore had two feet of water in their houses.

He could tell them there’s something coming this way.

Or in the words of Ray Bradbury, "Something wicked this way comes."

Maybe you don’t understand that trees with leaves come down easier and take down power lines. Our local hospital was evacuated yesterday. Let me know when you think it’s a crisis.

I was watching the 11 PM WNBC-TV news, and judging by the looks of the video, it sure looks like it’s going to hit.

I went to bed last night entertaining the idea that it would probably just keep going straight out to sea, but I woke up this morning to see it had taken that left turn towards new york just as they predicted.

I think you’re right. Supposedly, the effects will be from massive water, not wind.

>>>Did you just say Katrina was weak when it hit the coast? Tell that to Missippians. Wow.

Good grief. Some of you are as sensitive as lib-tards. It was banter. I wanted to say "weaker" but that didn't really fit the phrase.

And so let me do the same thing ALL conservatives have to do when they hurt the sensitive feelings of the liberals (like Akin did): I didn't mean it was weak. WEAKER. It went from a 175 mph hurricane to barely a cat 3. I am speaking, of course, about strength...not impacts.

There....FEEEEEEEL better?

Katrina for a time was a cat 5 IIRC. And yes you are correct it did weaken considerably from what it was.

But more importantly it should be noted that most of the people who died in Katrina, especially those in NO, died because they, including state and city officials didn’t take the storm seriously.

I make no claims at being a weather forcaster, but I DID noticed this....flocks of seagulls in my area arrived over the weekend. To me, that’s a sure sign of some VERY bad weather.

I live at 1500’ about 40 miles SE of Clarksburg WV at almost the southern end of the USACoE’s Pittsburgh District.

WINDS AFFECTING THE UPPER FLOORS OF HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS WILL BE
SIGNIFICANTLY STRONGER THAN THOSE NEAR GROUND LEVEL.
STORM SURGE...THE COMBINATION OF AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS STORM SURGE
AND THE TIDE WILL CAUSE NORMALLY DRY AREAS NEAR THE COAST TO BE

DEPTHS ABOVE GROUND IF THE PEAK SURGE OCCURS AT THE TIME OF HIGH
TIDE...

NC NORTH OF SURF CITY INCLUDING PAMLICO/ALBEMARLE SOUNDS...4 TO 6 FT

SURGE-RELATED FLOODING DEPENDS ON THE RELATIVE TIMING OF THE SURGE
AND THE TIDAL CYCLE...AND CAN VARY GREATLY OVER SHORT DISTANCES.
GIVEN THE LARGE WIND FIELD ASSOCIATED WITH SANDY...ELEVATED WATER
LEVELS COULD SPAN MULTIPLE TIDE CYCLES RESULTING IN REPEATED AND
EXTENDED PERIODS OF COASTAL AND BAYSIDE FLOODING. IN ADDITION...
ELEVATED WATERS COULD OCCUR FAR REMOVED FROM THE CENTER OF SANDY.

Crisis response. The admin and its media outlets did not report benghazi, so there was no need to respond, however, they have already reported that zero is balancing the campaign with responding to this natural disaster.
