(1) Romney was NOT a conservative....he was merely the anti-Obama. Folks here on FR got way too invested in a candidate that they have known for YEARS was not a conservtive....NOT one of us. It amazed me how otherwise intelligent folks became invested in a poor choice that should NEVER have gotten the nod.
(2) Obama is going to mess things up really bad...especially the economy. Because of this, Conservatives will be able to pick up many more House and Senate seats in 2014 and 2016. If Romney had of been elected, we would have lost seats. Romney may well have hurt the brand of "conservatism."
(3) IF we conservatives can stop devouring each other and develope consensus, we can help ensure a REAL conservative is the candidate for the GOP in 2016. We need to start today on that. NO MORE RINOs picked by the GOP Establishment....in fact it is way past time to throw out the GOPe! They pushed Romney on us, he was a poor choice. They need to go, and future Romneys do as well.
(4) We still have control of the House.
(5) Things are bad, but IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD PEOPLE! We haved survived worse. Somethings to make things better, they have to get worse first.

IT IS THE END. All this talk about the next time we’ll get the right candidate. Just running in circles. Personally, at this moment: I give up.
You have the correct attitude.
This was one battle that was lost. At best, this loss will help us avoid the obvious mistakes made.
There will be other battles in the future, and our goal is to win more battles than we tie or lose.
The purpose of our future battles is to win the WAR, just as Breitbart warned us.
On the positive side we need to list what the problems are.
On the negative side we need to list what mistakes were made.
No, I’m done. I’ve been a good soldier for fifty plus years... it’s time to move on. I will be switching to Independent and will go socially moderate and fiscally conservative with a mindset of getting my share. NO more protecting the middle class.
The main thing I worry about is the “army of youth as well armed and trained as the army” he spoke of when the was given the oath of office before. He apparently has the ammo but maybe not the rest yet...? Since we have the National Guard, what does he need with that? Now that he’s back in office for 4 more, what’s he going to do?
Guess I need to change my name to “worry wart”!
Thinking ahead, a few possible names for 2016: Mike Pence, Jim DeMint, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin.
A possibility for the next few hours: bedtime. Good night, all.
Patriots in the Washington elite are just going to let these 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radicals (psycho spoiled brats) and their ideological issue (Obama) finish us off?
1) You’ll find Romney won more Republicans than most candidates in the past have when this is all over. His ‘moderateness’ had no bearing. We all came out to get rid of Obama. We were defeated.
2)You’re wrong. The economy will not get dramatically worse in the next decade. It will likely remain where it is now. Crappy, but people said tonight that they had gotten used to ‘crappy’.
3)Not quite sure what you mean here? The grassroots devoured the GOP-E in Indiana. We got massacred. When Mourdock was picked, the grassroots came out for him, and the GOP-E fully funded his campaign. We both lost.
4) Completely USELESS. Obama has no use for congress, nor will his successor. The people have given a mandate to handing more power from congress to the president tonight, through executive orders. Controlling half of it is meaningless.
5)We have not survived anything worse. The people were given a clear choice. A shameless capitalist, and a shameless socialist. They chose socialism. This is akin to the choices Europe made during the 1970s.
Romney did not fail
The Republican party did not fail
AMERICA failed.
To late. This was our last chance to reverse the enslavement of Obamacare! We are all slaves now.
As long as we have (alleged) Conservatives that admire and alibi for bigmouthed idiots like Akin and Mourdock, egotistical turncoats like Chris Christie, and stealth traitors like Colin Powell the likelihood of Republicans getting another shot at the White House with another well-funded and intelligent candidate is slim and none
I like your style and your thinking!
1) In GOP, two white guys can’t win.
Rubio would have saved Mitt.
2) Akins and Moudrock type of comments hurt party. Even your heart is at right place but language scare average people.
3)Tap younger and new immigrants in party. majority of new immigrant join Dem party.
4) Use of media is important.
I'll lay me down and bleed awhile,
Then I'll rise and fight again.'
Sir Andrew Barton (English folk song).
the whole system needs to crash. The demographics no longer favor our way of life. Literally half the country demands big government and european style socialism. It’s either that or we support a secessionist movement. I don’t know, but things will get worse in the next four years.
It’s not the end of the world, but you can see it from here. Obamacare contains much puzzling “stray” legislation. For example, it allows the resident to raise the debt limit without even informing congress if he can spend the next several trillions fast enough, and he can. Unless he tips over from a cocaine overdose, he may well be an unfettered dictator by 2014. If so, 2016 may look as Dinesh D’Souza (spelling?) has described it. “God, I have an unusual request....”
Thanks...I’ll try to remember the good that will come out of this as I face a death panel.
Thanks.
Palin is still here, Jim Robinson, the tea party, the new conservatives that have been put into office over the last 4 years are all still here.
2010 was an HISTORIC election victory for conservatives and the republican party, not just a good year, 2014 is something worth fighting for and definitely winnable.
One interesting consideration for the next four years is that the Democrats will go into 2016 without a "natural" frontrunner for the White House. Joe Biden sure isn't going to be their candidate, to the point where he may even be pressured to step down in favor of a younger replacement.
I'll continue my process of "going Galt" to the extent that I can. I've fuly divested myself of my ownership stake in my old company, I've rejected an offer to become a partner in my new company, and I plan to spend the next four years pretty much doing the same thing I've been doing for the last four: be fair but absolutely mercenary in my business dealings, don't take any sh!t from anyone, and always keep my options open even if it means relocating to another state -- or another country -- for better business prospects.
Things are bad, but IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD PEOPLE! We haved survived worse. Somethings to make things better, they have to get worse first.
Yes, I believe this very conversation was taking place in Jewish communities in Germany in 1935.
Things can get worse, but if you plan for a future that works like the past, you could be in for a rude awakening.
A lot of us don’t expect to be around in 2016 or whenever. This has become a MOST STUPID COUNTRY.
