Yes, I believe statistics shows that most Americans will agree that nothing makes one’s heart feel good like pictures of babies and dogs.
A long time ago I ran Restaurants, and in my attempt to boost sales I investigated the marketing world. No time for college, but in my time looking into good marketing practices, I learned that dogs and babies are at the top of the list of what strikes a positive cord with Americans. I actually won a couple of marketing awards.
Too much coffee, too many cigarettes, and no sleep made for a very unhealthy heart, so I eventually changed careers. My wife is glad for it.

Ha—the stats on Internet videos suggest that kitties have them both beat!
That makes me laugh because my big dog treats me that way. He actually tries to herd me to go to bed, and then he’ll settle down.
Definitely going out to my email list, in the Thanksgiving mood.
By stats I am guessing you mean hits for a video?
I do know that dog commercials out do kitty commercials by a vast amount. That’s because sales of products shows that dogs move products much more than cat commercials.
Actual profits prove the point, but I would be curious as to the number of dog videos compared to cat videos.
I did a Google search on dog/puppy videos vs cat/kitty/kitten videos and the numbers come out.
Google Search Hits
Cat Videos = = === 309,000,000
Kitty Videos ===== 264,000,000
Kitten Videos ==== 110,000,000
total = ========= 683,000,000
I know this is unscientific, and I even added an extra search for cats, and dog videos still doubles the number of hits for cat videos. Almost 1.4 billion compared to almost .7 billion.
As I said, unscientific, but dogs beat cats.

Kitties are viral, not so much from google hits. Think I have seen it somewhere that kitties are second only to porn on the Internet.
There are a couple of good articles about it.
But I believe you that dogs move more in commercials. I think there’s a much bigger ‘anti-kitty’ population that could be put off by them in a commercial.
That Travelers Insurance company ad where the dog is protecting his bone, buries it, worries about it in his dreams, digs it up, takes it to the bank to put it in a safe deposit box, then goes back, gets it and puts it under a Travelers Insurance umbrella, and sleeps well, always cracked me up.
Yes, I agree. It’s really good.
I also like the one where the dogs are chasing each other around the house and then destroy a TV. Then one goes on line to order another TV and the other goes to pick it up is pretty cool also.
