"Blitz went down because they couldn’t accept the liability of producing the politically correct gas can." I missed this post. It is absolutely correct.

Back in the mid 70’s while on the job, I drove by a box along the side of the road at least eight times. The box stayed there all day and when I got off work I drove my car to where the box was and it was still there. Inside was a new unused 5 gal. safety gas can that looks exactly like the one at the amazon link below.

http://www.amazon.com/Justrite-Mfg-7150100-RED-GAS/dp/B0042KUJ1E/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1353461462&sr=1-1

The can has been used continuously since I got it home. I keep it full and stored in my attached garage. Never had a problem.

Recently I began to use it for storage of non ethanol laced gasoline. This type gas will allow your small gasoline engine powered tools to last longer without fouling out the carburetors. I have a new chain saw and plan to use the ethanol free gasoline in it because I’ve been told that the number one cause of failure for them was using ethanol laced gasoline.

"The squirrels keep eating ours. Not joking."

Doesn't surprise me, probably made out of soy in the plastic. In recent years car manufacturers have begun using soy based plastics in the wire insulation and other plastic and rubber parts. Needless to say, rodents have found it quite delectible.

Whats for dinner Mr. Mouse? Insulation and hoses thats what!

They couldn’t get their nozzles to work with all the carb regulations.

Go Scepter or LCI. They are much better.

Thanks to everybody. I am sorry if this was considered a thread hijack. Definitely not intended.

Man are there some PATHETIC people out there.

Anyone that’s been on this site for more than 3 months should KNOW FULL WELL that whatever non-perishable supplies they may need (which includes gas cans) they should BUY NOW - even if on credit. Things are NOT going to get any better and will likely get much worse, and sooner, rather than later (particularly if they Republicans and Obama strike a deal to save up from the fiscal cliff...in exchange for $1.5 Trillion deficits forever).

So, I have my 10 gas cans, each at 5 gallons (as one of my 172 items). I bought them over the past few years. I keep them full, except for the bit I use for small engines. I use Stabil at double-dose, which claims to protect the fuel for 2 years. Instead, I cycle through every 18 months and refill. No issues at all running it in my vehicles. I also have two gasoline-powered stoves and a gasoline-powered lantern (all Coleman). They will run FOREVER on 50 gallons (and nearly forever on 5 gallons). I also seal their lousy gas cans with O-Rings, which does the trick, although they will pressurize underneath, so you have to vent them once in a while (but it beats having fumes around all the time).

So BUCK-UP people, and get your act together...we WILL be hit by the bond traders, just like Greece - it’s only a matter of when.

Believe it. I went through 4 weed eaters, and a leaf blower before I figured out what was killing them. They didn't last a season (soeveral only a few weeks!), and I was beginning to think I had some sort of small engine killer aura before I figured it out. Since I have switched to "pure" gas, I have now gotten a weed eater to last over a year, and my chain saw has been working good for several years.

Here is a link to a website that shows the locations of gas stations selling non-ethanol gasoline.

Alas,

None in my area.

My small engine guy is saying the ethanol content is going to 15% next year.

His rules -
Sealed gas cans always. Ethanol absorbs water.
High test only !
Use ONLY FD Grade 2 stroke motor oil. This is the highest grade. If it doesn’t have FD on the label. DO NOT USE.

Use only fuel you can burn in 30 days. After that, dump into the car and buy fresh when you need it.

Competitive pricing here.

The shipping for four (4) jerrys is $99.00 to PA. Not very competitive. Is a shame, because that is what I would prefer.

sorry - I didn’t go so far as to check the shipping which is probably the BIGGEST rip off in internet purchasing.

You may want to check out MDR E-Zorb.

I use it with PRI and have fallen out of grace with Stabil fuel treatment. I have found that PRI can treat even 4 year old gasoline. YMMV. I do try to cycle with winter blend, rather than E10.
