Jeremiah Johnson is one of my favorite movies.

Another favorite is “We Were Soldiers Once and Young”.

The Ronin clips on youtube looks familiar - but looks like I’ll need to rent that to make sure!! I thought of “The Transporter” movies which were enjoyable. Not sure they rank as “Best Action Movies” though.

I came into this thread specifically to call out Ronin, but you beat me to it.

Absolutely my favorite. Still.

“Taken” with Liam Neeson” would rank pretty high with me.

Yes..a classic. The remake wasn’t bad, either. I think it’s called Scorcerer, with Roy Schneider.

Hmm.

I’ll try to pare down to ‘pure action movies’, so no science fiction, Westerns, or superheroes (of course the level of cheese in most action movies makes them pretty damned close to superheroes and science fiction).

Transporter
Professional
RED
A-Team
True Lies
Die Hard
The Gauntlet

Another favorite is “We Were Soldiers Once and Young”.

Yeah...Hal Moore said it was the closest he could get. Stormin Norman gave it two thumbs up, too. It was a seat squirmer.

Action? Hard to define.

Brave Heart
The Usual Suspects
Last Samuri

I hug the TV when any of them on even though I have the DVD’s.

No order.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Heat

Leon, the Professional.

If you don’t consider “Raiders” an action movie, then drop and add Die Hard to the list. The first movie.

I detest action movies with no plot, like The Rock or Con Air or Total Recall. Has to have a plot, hence I like action movies that have some drama like Ronin, Witness, Ransom, Patriot games.

I too am glad to see Ronin getting a lot of love on this thread, I only discovered it a few years ago, I don’t even remember it when it came out in theaters, but it is one of best movies ever made.
