I liked my CueCat. It's marketing method and software were annoying, but you got a free, useable barcode reader. The encryption on the output was broken within minutes or you could just desolder and lift one pin on a chip inside it and it would output the bar code in plain text. I used it for many years for inventorying books, DVDs and CDs until I finally coughed up $40 for a non-contact barcode reader.

Zyklon B vs. Crocs. Hmmm, pretty darn close.

These time people are idiots! There is nothing wrong with these products:

Agent Orange

Hydrogenated Oils

DDT

Tanning Beds

CFCs

Plastic Grocery Bags

Leaded Gasoline

To: Liz; All

As usual, Time magazine gets many things wrong!

DDT has saved more lives than ALL of the mosquito nets made, sold and used throughout history. Heck, my brother, sister and I used to ride our bikes behind the spray trucks when they made their passes on summer evenings.

Always thought that Betamax had better freeze, definition and resolution than VHS ever did.

Plastic grocery bags, once used; make excellent waste basket liners. Have a huge bag full of them near my closet door.

Big whoop on getting rid of CFCs. Have a hard on against the EPA for getting rid of PD-680 (Dry Cleaning Solvent), MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) and Naptha as de-greasers and cleaners. Nothing worked better on car and aircraft(Especially reciprocating) engine parts.

For hunting enthusiasts. The black & green camouflage Snuggie with just a bit of extra work and additions makes a decent, comfortable Ghillie suit.

Ddt...saved millions of lives
Aztek....looks like oversized prius
Asbestos....naturally occurring compound

Those list makers at Time are ignorant
Worst invention: government guaranteed payments for unimportant services

The Seqway???? at number one???

This thing is a brilliant piece of engineering- they just marketted it stupidly.

At $6K (10 years ago) it was like $12K now... stupid price

If they had come out with a mass-produced version at $999 they would have sold millions of them

Dean Kamen is a genius inventor

I have some cans of Spam, and of course, tuna in the pantry Going to go find a canned ham. Nalley’s chili is pretty good.

I cook a lot, but want to have some of these staples available if there is a food crisis of some kind.

Sardines, canned chicken, canned turkey and canned corned beef are disgusting, though.

They have "pop up ads" on their list--but if you go to the link a pop up ad for Time interferes with trying to read the list.

They left off "affirmative action" and "graduated income tax."

Crocs are great stash-in-the-garage shoes for carrying out the trash / washing the car / doing light yard work.

I’ll run into the local hardware store wearing them if I’m grubby, working on a project and need something, otherwise don’t want to be seen in public with them.
