Half of intentional shootings by police involve dogs, study says

There has never been a documented case of a dog killing a police officer.

The same can't be said for police killing dogs.

Every year, hundreds — if not thousands — of animals, mostly canines, are killed by police or animal-control officers. According to the National Canine Research Council, up to half of the intentional shootings by police involve dogs.

Sometimes, the animals have been injured and need to be put out of their misery. Sometimes, they are vicious and killed for reasons of public or officer safety.

But mostly, they die tragically and needlessly, victims of misunderstanding, prejudice or simple convenience, according to animal-rights and behavior experts.

Yeah, you’re right. I’ve structured my life so that I don’t have to associate with, or brush up against, human kind’s detritus.

In the event that happens, out comes the LCP.

He’ll I just had 3 of them straining at their leashes trying to get at us in a park not 2 hours ago. No doubt about what would have happened

All I care about is truth (thus my username). The stories check out. Truth is not defined by political affiliation, it is what is. I’m tired of dealing with people who’s entire concept of truth is based on listening to those who tell them what they want to hear.

I assume the decimal amount includes a number of dogs with fewer than 4 complete paws.

3-legged dog walks into a bar. Looks at the bartender and says, "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw."

Don't forget the dogs' owners' lawyers. Remember that poor woman in SF? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Whipple

The lawyers (married couple) brought home a pair of Presa Canarios that were owned by one of their convicted clients that was going to get into the dog fighting biz.

The “truth” is that she’s in cahoots with a lawyer who makes a fortune prosecuting dog owners and she’s a paranoid obsessive because she got bit by a dog, once.

"All I care about is truth (thus my username). The stories check out."

dogsbite.org cites the studies of Merritt Clifton, whose methodology is seriously flawed and whose agenda has been previously exposed. If you are, as you say, concerned only with the truth, you may want to take a look at these articles

Debunking Merritt Clifton’s “Statistics”

Merritt Clifton -- when the numbers just don't add up

Dangerous breeds,” dog bite statistics, and the Merritt Clifton report

If you subscribe to this guy's ccredibility as a researcher, you'll also have to accept the notion that vegeteriansim combats global warming.

And unethical, deplorable behavior: We recently had a statie steal cash and jewelry from a guy killed in a motorcycle crash.Conn. state trooper charged with stealing cash, jewelry from victim of fatal crash

Not only are these Cretans overtly stealing....they are padding their overtime so they can retire. getting six-figure retirement checks, again stealing from the overburdened tax payers of the state...erstwhile shooting pets when they enter private property. I despise every last one of them.

A state police commander said: If the allegations of misconduct are proven true, we wish that it not reflect the perception of the police or its union,"

Hello? hello? Can anyone hear me?

Good post Joe.

However most people who state that “all they care about is the truth” usually have an agenda and are liars. This is how they try to cover up their lies.
