KC Burke may now be AZ Burke

Work has transported me to the Phoenix metroplex, Glendale and Surprise to be exact.

What is happening here? People have told me it gets hot sometimes.

Do you guys in AZ have politics or guns?

Get ready for heat shock in about 4 months.

You should come up to the Lake Havasu/Bullhead City area. It’s nice and cool up here. Modest summer temps...

No really...130 isn’t THAT hot... ;)

A Viet Namese family we knew in the Twin Cities gave up their restaurant in Burnsville back in the 1980s to move to the warmer climate of Arizona.
They were back in a year. Couldn't take the heat.

Had one son do a doctorate and start a family down here — we have spent many visits. Your side of the state is about the only area I haven’t been.

Much of AZ doesn’t even have the same sun as the rest of us and theirs is much closer. BTW, June/July is their monsoon season.

Good luck in AZ.
I hear they have tomahawk sharpening seminars in Phoenix...

We actually have some of those pests in one of my Missouri haunts and it has taught me that moccasins or slippers are nice to have provided you shake them out each morning.

PHX isn’t too bad temp wise by AZ standards (110ish summers), but honestly, drink lost of water. way more than you’re used to.

As for living here...I’m a 96 NY transplant and wouldn’t go back for love nor money. AZ takes some getting used to. It’s a whole different mentality out here. Some people adapt, some love it, some think it’s Damnation Alley. For some I guess it is.

Rural here is “RURAL”. Think 1940s America with attitudes to match. Cities are modern, but I forwarn you in all seriousness...there is a lot of castoffs from Cali. 3rd striker types.

But if you get into a good area, you’re golden.

Now if I can get the Chiefs to lend me their tomahawk.

Rented a place but will be looking around the whole state for something to buy in about 18 months I imagine.

Prescott and Flagstaff are pretty nice and a lot of people in my neck of the woods like heading that way in the summer. Cooler and really nice area.

Prescott is relatively cheap for real estate still but Flag thinks it’s Beverly Hills East ;)

It’s a pretty diverse state geographically speaking. If you ever wanted to get away from it all, plenty of places fit the bill.

Good luck in Arizona KC, I like it warm but don’t think I could handle that extreme.

I prefer the mountains. Heading to Boulder in ten days when my son receives his PhD.

Best wishes. Remember all the good times in KC a dozen years or so ago.

After a lifetime based out of the KC area it was hard to part. I was the last of my family there except for some second cousins.

The rallies on the Plaza, barbecue at your house, the Jazz nights at the Phoenix, that dog of yours that used to chase a bowling ball you told him was Clinton...

Good times.
