Syrian Army Kills Al-Qaeda Terrorists in Deir al-Zour, Makes Advances in Homs

The Syrian army killed many al-Qaeda members in heavy clashes with terrorists in Eastern Deir al-Zour province, and made remarkable advancements in the Western Homs city on Wednesday.

In Deir al-Zour province, the Syrian army conducted extensive military operations and killed a large number of terrorists in al-Mariyeh and al-Jobeileh districts. Notorious al-Qaeda terrorists such as Walid Omar al-Ali, who was a member of al-Abbas battalion, and commander of al-Qesas battalion were among those killed in the army’s operation in Deir al-Zour.

In Homs city, the Syrian army advanced in the strategic Jureh al-Shayah district and killed tens of terrorists in clashes with the armed rebels. The army also captured two buildings of the terrorists in Jureh a-Shayah district.

The army also killed many terrorists in Homs’ al-Nasseriya district and inflicted heavy financial losses on the rebels.

Today, a high-ranking Syrian official told the Lebanese As-Safir newspaper that the terrorists sustained heavy losses and casualties after their repeated attacks on Damascus in the last two weeks failed and they were pushed back from the capital.

He noted that the army is continuing its advancements towards the Aleppo province, reiterating that the armed rebels were defeated despite trying hard to enter Damascus.

The source noted that the terrorists have been trying to capture the Syrian capital since last summer, but faced the army’s strong resistance and were pushed back from Damascus.

Earlier this week, the terrorists tried hard to block the roads leading to Damascus International Airport, but the Syrian army repelled their attack and purged them from the area.

“The al-Nusra Front affiliated to the al-Qaeda terrorist organization has sustained heavy casualties in this district and lost many of its members,” a Syrian military source told FNA, adding that there have been heavy clashes between the Syrian forces and rebels in the last few days.

The source said the rebels who had failed to conquer Syria’s military airports tried hard to advance in Damascus to capture the civilian airport (the Damascus International Airport), but were repelled by the Syrian army after sustaining heavy damage and casualties.

Terrorists have tried hard in the last several days to make Syrian cities unsafe for citizens, but the army has purged them from most neighbourhoods and districts, killed tens of them and arrested many others.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

I thought the "Friends of Syria" was a term covering rebel organizations,...so not totally sure of why this seems to be on their website.....

Notice that there is a link toward the end of the text to an Iranian website....and the entire article comes from TEHRAN (FNA)

Is it wrong of me to hope for the highest possible carnage between the bad guys of Assad and the bad guys of Al Qaeda (the core of the rebels)?

I thought about saying a prayer for the two sides to keep killing each other.

But I didn't.

Let me get this straight. nobama, h clintoon and their ilk support al queda against the syrian army & hassad? What an odd “foreign policy” we observe here. By the way...what about the four murdered Americans in Bengazi? Have the nobama-ites washed the dripping blood of these citizens from their crooked hands???????

not only do obama, h. clinton and their ilk support AlQuida, but if you review the previously posted threads on this topic, you will find that more than a few on this forum also support alquida.

Not odd if you were a progressive who had just spent 4 years screaming about how GWB failed in Iraq. That was the problem. We needed to handle Syria exactly how we handled Iraq, but the progressives had painted themselves into the Bush Lied People Died corner. Here is an article from a loyal RINO explaining the situation.

Obama's Syria disaster

So instead of Bush Lied and People Died, we now have the newer hope and change version, Obama Lied and Entire Countries Died.

Bengazi has joined the dust bin of history just like “Fast and Furious”. In another couple of months Syria will be old news and we will be talking about Jordan. Try to keep up.

NO! Assad is a murderous SOB that is a regional danger. The rebels (aka Al Qaeda)are murderous SOBs that are a world danger. The ideal would be for both sides to kill each other down to the last fighter. That will not happen. Our President has supported the rebels with money and arms. The rebels will win.

Right now as I type, money and arms are going to the people that were behind the 9/11 attacks against our nation. The president is a traitor.

Can’t help you with your post #2 question. As for the article at large. It seems to fit in with other reports we are reading from diverse media sources. That being. The rebels are not having such an easy time in their quest to topple the Assad government.
