"After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military. "
Not really into Swiss watches . .
I'm a big Burroughs fan. He was a totally reprehensible character -- but he was a definite character.
‘I sure as hell wouldn’t want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military. “
. . . not to mention the hoods, thugs, and other various scumbags who want to steal and kill at will. And, let’s face it - the bad guys will never give their guns up. Why should the rest of us?
“That second quote doesn’t look like something that Burroughs would say”......You are right I dropped the authors name when I posted....
I like the quote, but I’m not sure this is the time to bring up William S. Burroughs. Burroughs unintentionally shot and killed his wife in a “William Tell” game.
For those who are unfamiliar with Burroughs, he was no conservative. If you want to build a quick mental image of Burroughs, think of a bisexual Hunter S. Thompson who REALLY liked drugs.
As for the above quote about "a Swiss watch or a woman from anywhere," if Burroughs said that, it should be viewed alongside some of his other quotes about sexuality, including "Young boys need it special."
