Tory MP David Davies recently caused outrage when he suggested that parents wanted their children to be heterosexual and that plans to legalize gay marriage were barking mad.
Now the politician has attempted to defend his comments by saying that he has not done years of diversity training. Mr. Davies continued opposition to gay marriage and outspoken comments have angered equal rights campaigners and the MP admitted that he has been tactless.
In an interview with the Guardian, the 48-year-old said: I havent done years of diversity training, so sometimes I say things which are probably tactless, and I dont mean to, to be honest, I dont mean to do that. But these feelings are hard to articulate, and the trouble is that if you try to, and get it wrong, which I probably, frankly, am doing now, youre going to get no end of abuse for it, and upset a whole load of people, some of whom I actually quite like.

The only mistake here is not sticking to ones guns. (And doing interviews with the Manchester Guardian.)Ive not had diversity training, so I can be a bit tactless: Extraordinary excuse from the Tory MP who claimed parents dont want gay children
The only people who want gay children are adult homosexuals.
DARWIN ALERT!!
I hope science can make it easy for that particular liberal culture...An injection that will make your kid queer before “it” is born.....
Within 2 generations we’ll be well on our way to cleansing the gene pool....
And not even all of that group does. I heard on the Savage nation an adult homosexual male call in and he himself told Michael Savage if he ever had a child he would never want him to be homosexual since it’s such a dangerous lifestyle.
Maybe it’s me, but I yet to meet anyone who wished their kids were gay. At best they just tolerated it.
Probably because most parents want to be grandparents and even great-grandparents someday(and not via a turkey baster). Where did this “radical” idea come from? Only from all of human history prior to the 21st century.
Rational, decent, moral parents don’t want a homosexual child any more than they want a schizophrenic one or one born without limbs.
I’ll take the truth over tact.
Which probably means you’re a conservative and not a liberal.
This is an argument I have made to some of my “progressive” friends; if there is nothing wrong with homosexuality, then why aren’t you encouraging your children to be gay?
Or a blind one or a deaf one either. Imagine if someone said “I want my child to be schizophrenic, born without limbs, blind and/or deaf.” What a cruel parent that would be.
Reality is not PC.
Dennis Prager put it best when he tells Jews to (he’s Jewish) “Preach what you practice”. Brilliant advice for people that live as conservative as any evangelist, but support the most whacked out left wing causes imaginable.
I could put up with gay, but if my progeny showed liberal tendencies.....
From what I’ve read years ago when all of the gay PC started, not even gay parents wanted their kids to be gay. They would prefer their kids not to feel the isolation and weirdness they felt growing up.
The day will eventually come when they’ll be able to tell whether a child is going to be a homosexual or a heterosexual. Then we’ll see how tolerant all the lib parents who aren’t homosexuals are. I’ll bet if abortion is still legal, they’ll kill their homosexual kid before it’s born. They might approve of homosexual marriage and adoption, but they sure don’t want their children to be homosexuals. They won’t tell that to their homosexual friends though.
In reading the article excerpt it was hard for me to discern if the MP actually backtracked, or was just expressing regret that he didn’t express his opinions (which he hasn’t changed ... yet) in a ‘friendlier’ or more tactful manner. I.e, rather than calling someone who supported sodomite marriages as being ‘barking mad’, perhaps he should have just said that they ‘were in error’ .... either that, or just a bunch of wankers...
“sometimes I say things which are probably tactless”
Yes, what he said was “tactless”, but not fact-less. It was basically a true statement that everyone knows to be true, but we don’t want to say it for fear of offending people. Still, when those facts are challenged by the homosexuals, it is them who force us to discard tact, so they have no right to be offended.
A guy I coach football with came in with his wife and stopped to say hi. I introduced my nephew as being gay. He didn't like it. I won the point.
Homosexuality is a sin, like infidelity, it’s not physical.
