10 fascinating facts about cats

People love their pets. Be it a cat, dog, hamster or goldfish, most U.S. residents have some kind of non-humanoid companion sharing their home. According to a survey by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA), however, cats win hands down when it comes to the sheer numbers that reside in American abodes.

The facts about cats confirm there are over 73 million in houses throughout the country, as opposed to 68 million dogs. Although many dog owners would disagree, that means cats are the preferred pets among the four-legged furry variety.

Ken Hubbard is an antiques dealer with the company 2wice As Nice in Wheat Ridge, Colo., a suburb of Denver. He’s also the owner of two black American shorthairs, Lace and Bear.

“Cats can be fun, intuitive and loving. But they can also have an evil side,” Hubbard chuckles. “They have their routines and they can be very demanding. Mine will torment me in the morning until they get me out of bed, with lots of stalking around the room and covers and a lot of meowing.”

If you’re a cat lover you’ve certainly experienced both sides of the coin. For your reading pleasure, we’ve pulled together a handful of interesting facts about cats.

Xactly.

It’s easy for cats to outnumber dogs when one out of five cat owners have 47 cats!

I have the privilege of living next door to one of the crazy cat ladies... she has, the last time I counted, at least 6 or 7 coming and going and routing around my house.

So far, I have spared her the agony of watching me Bar-B-Q one of her cats.

Don’t know how long that will last...

I tried everything to keep them from digging my garden.
Even got this powdered Coyote urine, (MAN, WE ARE TALKIN SOME FOUL STUFF), them bastid cats of hers just laughed...

So. Go on thinking cats are gods.
They agree.

What does that make you?

Our cat, Shadow, decided to jump over the fence into the neighbor’s back yard. They had two huge dogs back there. Do you know that a cat can run perpendicular to the ground across the front of a wooden fence? She looked like one of those motorcycles you see at the carnival in that Circle of Death thing they do. She made one lap and then popped over the fence and straight into the house. The dogs thought it was great fun.

"One of the cats likes to watch Walking Dead."

Your cat has fine taste in television viewing. Does he/she like Daryl?

“And she neglected to clean the litter box before heading off to working the closing shift at Chick-fil-A. “

I am sure her customers at Chick-fil-a won’t see that as a negative.

Our neighbor’s cat, Leroy, got into our basement through an open window, sniffed around for a while, and leaped the 6 feet
straight up onto the sill to get out. My father had a workshop in the garage with a sandblast booth. Leroy liked to take a dump in the sand that got on the floor.

I have 2 of the little hair monsters and I have figured out this simple fact. Buying cat toys is a waste of money for me.
One of my cats has to spend at least 1-2 hours a day killing a plastic grocery bag, if he doesn't I really think that he believes it will take over the house. If he gets it a handle stuck around his neck he will either come to me to get it off or if I am not home, plastic confetti.

The other cats favorite toy is a straw, a simple straw. He will steal them from my soda or shake if I am watching it closely. He has yet to spill a drink getting the straw out, just turns his head, bites, pulls and runs like all get out.

Cats vision is unique. My cat Sassie seemed to be quite at ease when she slept on our bed. A gentle pet in the dark brought forth that wonderful PURR!

Our kids and grandkids showed up for the Christmas holidays, with with three cats and four dogs in tow. Our two dogs and a couple of neighbor dogs are thrilled with the company, but our poor cat won’t come out from under the bed.
