Gun confiscation: How will it start?

Posted on 01/02/2013 4:03:29 PM PST by rustyboots

With all the recent talk about gun control, the high level of ammo/firearm purchasing and the just demonstrated lack of GOP gonads on fiscal matters, I started to wonder just how fast they would roll over for DiFi? But I guess the real question would be; If Difi got her wish on her new bill, how would they start if millions resisted? Would the government realize that there wasn't going to be a cheerful obedience to the new law and just let millions get away with this resistance? If there decided to go after gun owners who refused to register, how would they do it? Do they do massive overnight raids on FFL dealers/gun stores? Do they do the midnight raids on the common man? And then where do they start? What would happen if they raided 50 different locations in Texas versus raiding 50 different places in Kansas? Will we see resistance then? Of if successful, will the rest of America just bend over and grab their ankles? Just curious what many of you think? After 57 years, I am beginning to fear my government.... and many of the citizens of this great country.

Your basic privileges will not be renewed unless you turn in your registered firearms. Your drivers license for instance. Inability to obtain auto insurance because you no longer have a valid license. Since you no longer can bundle auto, home, etc, everything goes up for you! CCL's will obviously be the first target, immediate revocation. Any number of things that have been defined as a privilege (such as driving). Maybe you won't be allowed health care under the regimes plan because you are a threat to society in general.Extra taxes on you because you are a suspected firearm owner until the "state" you resides in can inspect your home and property at your consent.

There are passive ways this can be worked on before the real divide and conquer shooting starts.

“99% will submit to the slaughter like sheep.”

I don’t think so... The IRS has only about 70% compliance or less. And 10% of the 100 million gun owners still leaves 10 million pissed off gun owners. Considering that there are only 1 million in the armed forces, confiscation of arms would be an impossible task.

I think civilians have more guns than the Army. It is illegal for the army to attack civilians. Confiscation will start with bullets hot and fast.

The history of Marxist regimes and Socialist Utopianists provides the blueprint they almost always follow regarding the disarmament of the citizens they intend to subjugate to absolute tyranny.

But considering we are an anomaly with rights enshrined since our establishment - makes your question a bit trickier to answer - but I believe we will see a combo of what was done in the UK and Australia in the beginning, followed by what every despot from Hitler to Pol Pot did to enforce disarmament upon their own people.

They will ban the ability to purchase just about every conceivable firearm able to hold more than 5 bullets and isn’t a bolt-action/semi-auto. Ammo will be prohibited for ‘assault rifles’. This may happen in the next few weeks or months.

On the heels of that, or as part of whatever ‘act’ they conceive - a national gun registration program in conjunction with or mandated to the states and local police will also be enacted. A limited time will be offered to comply with the new ‘law’ before penalties for failure to register your weapon will be imposed.

Get another false flag or mass shooting, the opportunists will seize on that panic to demand a ‘gun buyback’ similar to what the Brits and Aussies suffered. The ‘buyback’ will be mandatory and because the government is ‘compensating’ you for your firearm - it will be said to pass Constitutional muster. They will give an limited amnesty time for compliance.

After that - look for penalty enforcement for turning in your weapon to begin. They will begin with fines, jail and seizures of property for non-compliance. You will be bankrupted and unable to transact business - I would not be surprised if the IRS is already a mechanism they will employ for enforcement via seizing bank accounts and wages for failure to comply or produce a weapon with a 4473 in your name.

After that - any resistance - and for public effect - to create a climate of fear, examples will be made of those who resist.

And then the rest of the sheep follow to avoid becoming the new Jews of the MarxoFascist state being erected around us.

Never have I seen such a collection of spineless wusses. Those who would not fight are worthless cowards who don’t deserve the freedom we who have served have fought for. I spit on those who would not make a stand

Also, if you have the funds and don't mind out and out lying, figure out a secure location for your firearms and ammo (don't bury them on your property) and bust in your own door or toss a brick through your own window. Call the leo's and report all your firearms stolen. You also had a change of heart and are not going to claim this on your home owners insurance (no need to screw others of your same insurance company) because the local law enforcement is doing a great job as it is. Bottom line, your firearms are "gone". If "they" want to search your home or property, let "them" Yes, you had to lie, but you will have them for later and can be a very, very potent weapon in the overall fight.
If you want to have a bit of fun, bury some drive shafts and other long pieces of metal on your property; let 'em get tired of digging around your property.

I didn't come up with this either, read it on some gun forums.

... Perhaps 50-100 million firearms currently owned by law-abiding citizens will become contraband with the stroke of a pen. Citizens will either register their firearms, or turn them in to agents of the federal government, or risk becoming criminals themselves. Faced with this choice, millions will indeed register their arms. Perhaps as many will claim they’ve sold their arms, or had them stolen. Suppose that as many as 200-250 million weapons of other types will go unregistered.

Tens of millions of Americans will refuse to comply with an order that is clearly a violation of the explicit intent of the Second Amendment. Among the most ardent opposing these measures will be military veterans, active duty servicemen, and local law enforcement officers. Many of these individuals will refuse to carry out what they view as Constitutionally illegal orders. Perhaps 40-50 million citizens will view such a law as treason. Perhaps ten percent of those, 4-5 million, would support a rebellion in some way, and maybe 40,000-100,000 Americans will form small independently-functioning active resistance cells, or become lone-wolves.

They will be leaderless, stateless, difficult to track, and considering the number of military veterans that would likely be among their number, extremely skilled at sabotage, assassination, and ambush.

After a number of carefully-planned, highly-publicized, and successful raids by the government, one or more will invariably end “badly.” Whether innocents are gunned down, a city block is burned to ash, or especially fierce resistance leads to a disastrously failed raid doesn’t particularly matter. What matters is that when illusion of the government’s invincibility and infallibility is broken, the hunters will become the hunted.

Unnamed citizens and federal agents will be the first to die, and they will die by the dozens and maybe hundreds, but famous politicians will soon join them in a spate of revenge killings, many of which will go unsolved.

Ironically, while the gun grab was intended to keep citizens from preserving their liberties with medium-powered weapons, it completely ignored the longer-ranged rifles perfect for shooting at ranges far beyond what a security detail can protect, and suppressed .22LR weapons proven deadly in urban sniping in Europe and Asia.

While the Secret Service will be able to protect the President in the White House, he will not dare leave his gilded cage except in carefully controlled circumstances. Even then he will be forced to move like a criminal. He will never be seen outdoors in public again. Not in this country.

The 535 members of the House and Senate in both parties that allowed such a law to pass would largely be on their own; the Secret Service is too small to protect all of them and their families, the Capitol Police too unskilled, and competent private security not particularly interested in working against their own best interests at any price. The elites will be steadily whittled down, and if they can not be reached directly, the targets will become their staffers, spouses, children, and grandchildren. Grandstanding media figures loyal to the regime would die in droves, executed as enemies of the Republic. ...

Just went to get some lowers. GONE OLA.

Yep. Looking for a Mini-14 so I went to Gander Mountain yesterday where they always have a few on the wall. They were cleaned out and don't know when they'll be getting new ones. Cleaned out of every high cap magazine as well and the shelves were bare of all but the least common caliber ammo. Lots of empty shelves and wallspace. The only scary, black rifles they had were .22LR.

Went to a smaller gun store in town today and saw a pair of Mini-14s in stock with $1300 price tags --more than double what you could get them for a month ago. Kept my wallet in my pants. Don't need one that bad right now. Just crazy out there!

So they’ll do those things and leave the guns alone? Nah. They’ll need to put their hands on them at some point. That’s when we’ll see what’s what.

It won’t work the way most think.

It will start out with a national registration program. With that registration will come a registration tax, just like your car. Every year you will have to renew your registration and pay the tax. The tax will gradually increase. It will initially be small, maybe $50. Most gun owners, being law-abiding citizens will comply. Then, each year the registration fees will increase until a majority of gun owners can’t afford to pay the fee each year.

The law abiding gun owner will have the choice to either pay the tax he can’t afford, sell his guns, or refuse to register. For those who don’t register, there won’t be SWAT raids except for possibly a few high profile raids. Instead, you simply won’t be able to buy ammo, reloading supplies, hunting licenses, or shooting range memberships. If caught with one, you will face stiff fines and confiscation.

It will be gun elimination through attrition. It will be so gradual, there will be very little resistance, no CWII, no revolution. Just bureaucrats adding a little bit of tyranny at a time along with a spoon full of sugar so you swallow it.
