Royal Mail to release 'Doctor Who' stamps

Sure, bow ties are cool, but stamps are even cooler.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, Britain’s Royal Mail is releasing a series of stamps featuring the 11 actors who have held the title role, the British postal service announced Wednesday. Everyone from William Hartnell, who first portrayed the Doctor from 1963-66, to Matt Smith, the current star, will be included.

And don’t forget about those pesky foes: Daleks, Oods, Weeping Angels, and a Cyberman will all get their due on a miniature sheet with Second Class stamps, along with a stamp featuring the Doctor’s time travel machine, TARDIS.

“The Doctor Who stamps are the perfect way to mark and celebrate the 50th anniversary of this much-loved programme,” Fiona Eastwood, Product Development Director, BBC Worldwide Consumer Products said in a statement. “The collection is really impressive, and I am sure they will delight all Doctor Who fans.”

The stamps will be available starting March 26, and fans can pre-order through the Royal Mail web site. Geronimo!

My credit card payment is late. Can I get my check delivered three days ago with the Dr. Who stamp?

I’m not sure .... but we did find out that the dreaded ‘Fiscal Cliff’ was NOT a Fixed Point in Time.

No, but it DID show that John Boehner was a wibbly-wobbly, weepy-creepy sort of guy. . . .

My second favorite show after Walking Dead. Brilliant show, and really looking forward to future shows with soufflé-girl as the companion. Have to keep any eye out for the stamps.

I am SO happy. I was a longtime friend of the 3rd Doctor, and knew most of the classic Drs from conventions. Jon would absolutely LOVE this. I remember the 20th anniversary events like they took place yesterday. Hard to believe it’s 50 now!

I would love a book of TARDIS stamps. They provide more postage on the inside than they say on the outside.

I would use the weeping angel to send in my quarterly tax payments, with the fangs bared of course. Tennant is my favorite doctor but Matt Smith is growing on me. In a wibbly wobbly timey wimey sort of way.

I still like the "off" Doctors, Chris Eccleston and Paul McGann. McGann has done some wonderful audio plays for Big Finish that really flesh out the character of the 8th Doctor. And I just like Eccleston's 9th Doctor cause he was a post Time War bad ass.
