Disturbing Video Game Has Players Shoot NRA Leaders
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1239566&p=39218703 ^ | 1/15/2013 | Pete McNamara

I saw something today that upset and deeply disturbed me. I was walking past my son's bedroom, where he spends all his time on his computer playing those damn games of his. I stopped when I heard the sound of Wayne LaPierre's voice as he gave his speech about the Newtown massacre. I was surprised my son, who is just 14, was getting involved in anything political, but I was glad he was exposing himself to the right people. I opened the door, intending to tell him how proud I was, when the image on the screen stopped me cold. It was not, as I suspected, a video of Wayne LaPierre's speech, but was in fact a virtual recreation of the event, a video game. And in the game was a virtual Wayne LaPierre, standing at his podium, giving his speech... with a crosshair over his head. Before I could even utter a word to scold my child, he clicked his mouse. And the virtual Wayne LaPierre's face disappeared in a spray of blood.

I was horrified. I must have yelled at him for hours. I demanded to know where he got this game, and he showed me the thread on a website called "facepunch". You can see it for yourself here: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1239566&p=39218703

My son has since been banned from all video games and I had my computer-gifted daughter set up blocks on his machine so he can no longer access his game sites, at least for the time being.

The media in this country is out of control, and this is a perfect example. Movies and music and games have been getting more and more violent, and now we have game-people making threats against real leaders who speak out against this trend, and in defense of our right to bear arms. This needs to be held up as an example of what's wrong with our country, and what we need to change about our culture.

Now I'm a simple man. I love my God, my country, and my family. Heaven for me is a plate of mashed potatoes and a slice of corn-fed Iowa steak. I don't know much about computers and I don't usually involve myself in politics. This is my first time "posting" anything in fact; my daughter has been helping me write this. But seeing that horrible game brought something out in me. I don't know what, but something has to be done about this. This culture of violence corrupts our kids, and could very well cause the next Newtown. I'll be damned if I'm just gonna sit by and watch it happen.

Is it time to gather search party yet?

Protocols at this level dictate that recovery in such cases is not to be attempted without greenlight and assistance from higher command.

“you understand that the game, its manufacturers and disseminators are also part of “the media.””

That game is extremely amateurish by modern standards. It is really not much more than a mod or skin applied over an existing, probably freely available game engine. So, I wouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that whoever made this game was an actual game studio or software company. It seems to be the work of a single person thrown together with stuff from the public domain.

Well, humble was the one who discovered that you could get deer to drink the stuff.
He also discovered that deer act very odd afterwards.
Currently he is sending thus affected deer across the field to the neighbors house for fun and profit.

Yep, not a peep out of Pete.

Either his tech savvy daughter never explained the ‘post’ button to him — he was a simple man, after all — or he retired back under his bridge...
