Posted on 01/21/2013 9:21:05 AM PST by ConservativeInPA
Reed Exhibitions, a UK based company, has prohibited the display and sale of tactical rifles, high-cap magazines and certain other accessories as well as the display of official logos and trademarks of some American gun related manufacturers at the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show (aka Sportsmen's Show).
The Sportsmen's Show is an annual event held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA the first week of February. The event sees in excess of 250,000 patrons and has been billed as the largest outdoors show in the world. But NOT this year.
The show originally had four major sponsors; Cabela's, Outdoor Network, Progressive Insurance, and Comcast. Cabela's is boycotting the show with many other vendors and sportsmen. This list of businesses boycotting the show is growing hourly.
This is a chance to show the strength of grassroots conservatives that fully support the 2nd Amendment. Given Obama's and Democrat's assault on the right to bear arms we need to make a stand. Attending this show is essentially license for the liberal media to report, "See, outdoorspeople have no problem with commonsense gun control and they, like most Americas, want to our children to be safe from guns with high capacity clips. There is NO reason for any hunter to need an assault weapon to hunt ducks. All reasonable people agree with this."
We have recently seen the gun grabbers in NY make criminals of law abiding citizens by banning nearly 80% of guns in the state. Liberals want to disarm Americans so they can "progress" with their transformation.
I will not go to the show this year, or spend money on admission that goes to UK based company that does not understand the phrase, "shall not infringe." Please respectfully urge vendors to boycott the show so that the only booths left standing have Flo from Progressive Insurance hanging out with the Sham-Wow guy watching liberal Comcrap cable.
Since Reed Exhibitions changed their policy at the last minute, vendors boycotting the show should form a class-action lawsuit due to breach of contract to seek refunds and damages for lost revenue. It is time we stick it to gun grabbing liberals.
I am SO boycotting this show, I wasn’t even gonna read this post.
How about a list of exhibitors that don’t boycott... so they can be boycotted too....
This will also give Reed Exhibitions, the UK based company a good idea of what to expect as a market base in a future where these ridiculous infringements are considered/affected by the great and powerful 0z.
Cheerio you twaddle-prattling, warm beer drinking, meat boiling wankers. You and your buddies over at Bangor-Punta couldn’t keep S&W from becoming a solid market share American company. See how well you do once “don’t do business with the brits, they are pr1cks” becomes the norm in American Business.
Cabelas is still listed on the sidebar as an exhibitor on the website, though they are off the sponsor list. I thought I saw another exhibitor who pulled out still listed as an exhibitor, but can’t remember which one.
They are not updating the website regularly. People are going ape $hit on the show’s facebook page. There are new vendors posting on facebook all the time that they will not be attending the show. There isn’t one word out of Reed.
Here’s the show’s Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/EasternSports
Does anyone have any contacts for the “Outdoor Network” who is one of the prime sponsors? Is this the same as the “Outdoor Channel”?
Scrolling all the way to the bottom of the http://www.easternsportshow.com/ home page I see it IS the Outdoor Channel. I’ll be sending them an e-mail asking why I’m paying to have them as a premium offering if they are going to be sponsoring things like this.
Having “progressive” insurance as a sponsor is reason enough to pass.
The show web site is not updated with so many vendors leaving. They have also turned off the floor plan that lists the vendors. If they turn turn on the floor plan with vendors, I will list vendors by room to contact.
I just went to the grocery store and heard the local news report at the top of the hour on Rush. They are reporting on Cabela's boycotting the show.
“Reed Exhibitions, a UK based company,...”
The UK is leading the West into the abyss of destruction so it doesn’t surprise me to see this.
If you see posts of interest to Pennsylvanians, please ping me.
I just learned that BassPro will not be at the show. Their absence is due to a business decision made last summer, nothing to do with a boycott. So BassPro remains on my good to business with list.

2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show
The recent news and decision by Reed Exhibitions and the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show to refrain from the sales of modern firearms and accessories is disheartening and regrettable to hear. We are very disappointed in their decision and even though we would wish them to repeal their decision we feel that much damage has been done. The ramifications of their decision impacts many attendees and hundreds of exhibitors that have supported this event for many years.
The Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show has always been one of our favorite shows to interact with our loyal customers and fans. Due to recent events FOXPRO will not be attending the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor trade show. We encourage all of our customers who intended to visit with us to place an order to visit any of our fine retailers. For those who had wished to see us at the show please visit our website for other venues that we will be participating in.
We would like to thank all of our customers, fans and friends that have supported us at this show in the past and wish you all a very blessed 2013. For more information on our products please visit www.gofoxpro.com, or contact us by phone at 717-248-2507.
If ESOS does not reverse their decision, Crossbow Magazine has made an offer: "Being a PA based business and someone who attends the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, any CROSSBOW related vendor that had booth space reserved at the Eastern Sports Show and has pulled out, will receive a free, 6 month banner ad on the CBM forum. (If they so desire to take up the offer) Just our way of saying; Thank You! Hopefully, it may help defer a small portion of their financial loss. http://www.crossbowmagazine.com/index.html
Gander Mountain will not be at the show, apparently like BassPro, they were not planning to attend this year.
We at King of the Mountain, Inc. have exhibited at the Eastern Sports in Harrisburg PA since 1988! This is our 25th Anniversary of continuous exhibitions. HOWEVER, unless something changes ... and changes real fast... we won’t attend. It’s time that we all hang together.. or they’ll surely hang us all separately.
What has happened? Well, the Reed Exhibitions Group that promotes the event is headquartered in Reed Exhibitions
383 Main Avenue
Norwalk CT 06851
Tel: 203 840 4800
Fax: 203 840 5805
For farily obvious, politically correct, misplaced sentimental reasons the company has banned the display of hunting and defense rifles. There is even a Facebook page supporting the boycott of the event now and Cabelas which is one of their largest sponsors has cancelled their sponsorship.
Due to Reed Exhibitions Anti 2nd Amendment stance, Bangin Redhedz Turkey Gear is withdrawing from the Eastern Sport & Outdoor show. We feel there has been ample time to reverse this decision and since Reed has not done so we as a Pro 2nd organization will no longer be associated with them. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us on here or on our website, www.banginredhedz.com. Thank you.
