” Kaltenbrunner gave himself up claiming to be a doctor and offering a false name. However, his mistress spotted him, and by chance occurrence, she called out his name and rushed to hug him. This action tipped off the Allied troops, resulting in his capture, trial, and execution.”

Kaltenbrunner was basically a bumbling drunk and a Nazi sycophant....nothing really.....compared to the supremely ruthless, ambitious, and intense man he replaced, Reinhard Heydrich, who was assassinated by the Czech resistance in 1942. Heydrich organized Operation Hummingbird in 1934 which eliminated Ernst Roehm and the SA. Heydrich also organized Kristalnacht in 1938, the first major action against the Jews in Nazi Germany, in addition Heydrich chaired the Wansee Conference which put the Holocaust into effect on an industrial and organized basis. Heydrich also served in the airfoce and saw action on the Eastern Front, but Hitler thought he was too valuable to be at the front and had him reassigned to be the Protector of Moravia (occupied Czechoslovakia) in addition to his other duties as head of the RSD, which served as the SS’s own secret service and the post Kaltenbrunner eventually succeeded to. So ruthless and fearsome was Heydrich, he even made Himmler nervous. An archetype Nazi in every respect, cunning, ruthless, driven, and organized. Kaltenbrunner in comparison, was a pompous drunkard, and a pathetic spectacle at the Nuremberg trials, even his fellow co-defendents avoided him as much as possible.

Bottom of page 4, the Nazi press is whining that the Soviets “misled” them by not accurately reporting troop strength, camouflaging units, built new railroads and towns that were not on the Nazi’s maps.

I noticed the same article. LOL!

I suppose that was for internal consumption, for Germans who would rightly ask how could Hitler and the Nazis have cocked up the Russian campaign so badly?

The I-1 was a large Japanese “cruiser” sub that actually was bigger than the ships that eventually ran it aground and sank it. It was a treasure trove of intelligence in code books, charts and logs that were not destroyed before Allied troops got on board.
