Danes get a taste of American soldiering

FORT HUACHUCA — “You are definitely not members of the National Danish Shooting Team.”

That’s what one of the EST 2000 range instructors said Monday afternoon, as members of the National Danish Performance Team were given a quick lesson on how to fire Army weapons. And there was no disagreement from the Danes, who had a good laugh at the comment.

There were more misses — showing up as green dots — than hits, which were indicated by red spots. But it didn’t take long for some of the Danes to catch on to the intricacies of shooting. One even registered 36 hits in one of the tests.

Of course, it may have been a little easier for him since he served a short time in the Danish Army. Denmark has a form of draft, which is based on those with lower numbers going in while those with higher numbers usually do not.

Anders Bidstrup is the 29-year-old men’s coach. He served four months in the Army and then had a choice of remaining in service for a longer period or leave and become, in effect, part of the country’s reserves subject to call up “in case we ever go to war,” he said, adding he took the option of leaving the Army to return to civilian life, albeit as a reservist.

On the other hand, 21-year-old Jeppe Nøhr, pulled a high number and wasn’t drafted. Although he said he has an air rifle, he, like the majority of Danes, doesn’t own real weapons. In Denmark, weapon ownership means first either obtaining a hunting license or a harder to obtain special permit, he said. If a person does get a license or permit their weapon has to be locked up in a cabinet, Nøhr said.

So far on the world tour, the performance team has been to Azerbaijan, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan, he said. They have toured places in the United States and are going on to Mexico, Colombia and Brazil before returning to Denmark. Later, the team will take a tour of Europe, Nøhr said.

The goal of the team is to help people understand the importance of “having an active lifestyle,” he said, adding that is what the performance is about. The team will do a number of workshops today for school-age children to help them understand that developing such a lifestyle is healthy, Nøhr said.

Bidstrup said what the audience will see at the 7 p.m. Wednesday performance at Barnes Field House on the post — which is free and open to the public — will be an hour and 45 minute show of fast moving, high energy acts.

So much for the average American’s skill in the domains of handling fire-arms..

By the way, why not take take this opportunity to learn a little about Scandinavian weapons:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Gustav_recoilless_rifle

or more advanced ones that that could bring any other nation to its knees by our will (watch this if you belive we Vikings no longer are a threat to your sissy nation):

Would you explain what that post was about, and why?

Believe me, you are no longer a threat to any nation, sissy or otherwise. You're not vikings any longer.

I'd put money on the Bugscuffle police department over the Swedish army. No offence.

“Believe me, you are no longer a threat to any nation, sissy or otherwise. You’re not vikings any longer.”

- Like a true patriot, I too think along those terms, because it is my obligation as a Swede and a Viking to question our ability to fight back.

No, Sweden of today has no great army which could crush Putin in a quick eastward move, like Charles XII did 300 years ago.

But Scaninavia is the foremost force in terms of technology and economic progress and we Scandinavians run the World, like it or not, now when America, Britain and France have stepped down.

ansell2,

WesternCulture probably is the deluded Swedish douchebag who once went by the name WesternCiv or something similar and who was entirely fixated on proving Swedish superiority over everyone else at every opportunity - much like you are about Catholics voting for Obama.

He’s an idiot. Believe me, you’ll see the proof soon enough. Wait until he starts waxing poetic about the glories of Charles XII.

Hope you forgive my mispellings and begin to learn about Nordic history.

I am no hero, but some of my ancestors were. They fought for Finnish independency.

You and I know little about their deeds, but if you consider yourself a true friend of Western Civilization, I could inform you trifle concerning these matters.

Stay in touch!

Could be, he didn’t seem to realize that I was praising Danish LRRPs, based on the training that my unit used to do with them.

Why don’t Russians like Charles XII?

He showed no respect for Russia, he was not afraid, he was proud, and he was right.

There have been few military geniuses like him throughout history and while his troops were on Russian soil Sweden could steer the future of our eastern neighbor.

Today, a Viking nation like Sweden, the nation displaying the highest standard of living on Earth, is pushed back by idiotic and lesser nations like Britain and Germany.

You’ll hear from us Vikings.

Wether you like it or not, we are not through yet.

You might want to reconsider that statement.

Charley was indeed a great warrior, but Pete the Great kicked his ass at Poltava and Charley's bold plans and refusal to admit defeat eventually resulted in the loss of something around 2/3 or 3/4 of Sweden's territory and population.

No respect - true.

Not afraid - true but maybe he should have been. Refusing to be afraid of a bear is brave, but it can also be stupid.

Proud - true. Too proud to admit when he was defeated and do what was necessary to salvage what he could for his people.

Right - not hardly. He thought Sweden could defeat Russia, and he was comprehensively proven wrong.

You wrote:

Who the hell cares?

“He showed no respect for Russia, he was not afraid, he was proud, and he was right.”

Except he lost. Sweden’s empire died with him as well.

“There have been few military geniuses like him throughout history and while his troops were on Russian soil Sweden could steer the future of our eastern neighbor.”

And he still lost. And Sweden’s empire died with him as well.

“Today, a Viking nation like Sweden, the nation displaying the highest standard of living on Earth, is pushed back by idiotic and lesser nations like Britain and Germany.”

Your sissified nation is not a “Viking nation” but a degraded, politically correct country which is handing itself over to Kurds, Arabs, Pakistanis and Somalis who rape your women at will while you post nostalgically about losers who died 300 years ago.

“You’ll hear from us Vikings.”

No, we won’t. 1) You’re not Vikings. 2) You can’t do squat.

“Wether you like it or not, we are not through yet.”

Yes, you are. And I don’t like it, but it is precisely because of losers like you that Sweden is done. It’s through. Over.

The one thing Americans really fear from Sweden is The Swedish Bikini Team! Whatever you do, don’t send them to America to sap the strength of our young men!

“he didn’t seem to realize that I was praising Danish LRRPs”

- No, I did not.

Next time around, show more of respect towards a superior part of the World.

America is great and lots of people who live there have Viking blood.

However, America is not Scandinavia and neither is Russia.

Protestant Sweden crushed Catholicism in the 17th century just like Danish Vikings made England their home 1000 years ago.

We are richer, taller, stronger and do as we please - and you don’t have a way of stopping us.

Toothless, “fearless” Canadian hockey players shiver and wet their pants when they have to encounter the Swedish men’s national hockey team.

How tough are you, when it comes down to defending your own nation?

There are more Swedes in Minnesota than there are in Sweden. And what have they given us? Al Franken in the Senate. If you don’t watch out, we’ll send them all back to Sweden and they’ll start building big malls.

I admit we Swedes no longer care much about Charles XII. But although he lost at Poltava, he weakened Russia beyond belief and while Sweden moved along, Russia stayed a second rate nation.

The Russians are still afraid of the Swedes because the Russians know we are technologically superior and are good friends of the Nato alliance.

Russia today is cornered and is not likely of ever becoming a leading country in any important area whatsoever.

Please pardon me for saluting a true leader like Charles XII.
