Photobucket has decided that they know how I want my images displayed better than I do.

If I had a free account I would have no right to complain but I've been paying for storage for at least 7 or 8 years.

I don't mind paying for service but I expect some control over my galleries.

Photobucket is catering to the kids with cellphone cameras and more interested in selling ads for bling than in hosting serious accounts.

I'm trying a 15 day trial at Smugmug, if I like it I've got to start moving photos.

I noticed PB was all farqued up last time I used it. Never paid them anything, so cannot complain.

Smugmug is the same functionality?

They started pushing their new crap a while back.
From what I heard, lots of folks objected, but they're going ahead anyway.
Shades of Microsoft, you can't have it your way, you will have it our way, end of story.

It’s surprisingly cheap to set up your own website these days, and Wordpress is as easy to use as MS Office.

Do you have to pay with paypal on Smugmug? I won’t use paypal, so several image host sites are off limits for me.

And they'll charge you for the pleasure, to boot! Your comparison to MS is complete.

Have you used Windows 8? It feels like 1984 and Big Brother. How I want to use my computer comes after how Microsoft wants me to use my computer.

The deal breaker came when Microsoft 8 informed me that Windows Mail no longer uses the Post Office Protocol they have always used. Windows 8 then advised that I contact my provider and ask them to change their email system. They refused.

I’ve got a PBASE gallery but I don’t want my political stuff there. Ditto with my Flickr account.

Use Dropbox or a similar file sync service - most of them allow you to post "public links" to documents in your synced folders.

For example, this is from my Dropbox:

Try pbase

That's what my son uses and he's got gigs of birding pics.

There is always facebook. Just create a dummy account and format it the way you want. You can even hide the connection to the real you.

You have no idea how much political imagery I have in my collection, it fills a lot of pages. Facebook would go bonkers if they knew it was on their hard drive.

Tinypic is free and so is Imageshack.

I've never paid a dime to any image hosting website.

I've never had trouble with Paypal over many transactions.

I buy and sell on Ebay, Paypal is almost the only way to go.
