WASHINGTON President Barack Obama did some cherry-picking Tuesday night in defense of his record on jobs and laid out a conditional path to citizenship for illegal immigrants that may be less onerous than he made it sound.
A look at some of the claims in his State of the Union speech, a glance at the Republican counterargument and how they fit with the facts:
OBAMA: "After years of grueling recession, our businesses have created over 6 million new jobs."

Cherry-picking? Is that Newspeak for ‘lying’?

Any ‘path to citizenship’ should entail a background check that includes cross checking voter registration. An applicant that has committed felony vote fraud by registering and voting while not a citizen should never become one. They have stolen votes from honest Americans.
Their mere presence in this country, the fact that they drive on our roads, take our jobs, enroll their children in schools, use our hospitals and increase our costs all constitute ongoing theft from the citizens of the United States. They steal from us, that is what illegal aliens do. They commit theft and they lie and cheat the system for their own benefit.
I have wondered if the good and the honest in the US might at some point decide that they should move to Mexico? After all, most of the Mexican Riff-Raff will have become US citizens. Just a few million more Mexicans in the US and Mexico might be a nice place
You’re assuming that said illegals have a single identity that is completely traceable through various government databases. The true criminal element among any population is probably going to slip through those background checks because of fraudulent SSN’s and numerous (mis)spellings of foreign names.
Besides, the Obama Justice Department will just certify anything they want. They are the lawless ones here.
No, I'm assuming that if just one (R) politician would bring up the issue of cross checking voter registration roles we would see the entire conversation change in a heart beat.
It's a basic Alinsky tactic that liberals use on the rest of the country all the time.
