Obviously does not have a deep understanding of infallibility.

The intellectual mosquito doesn't know that the doctrine of infallibility only applies when the Pope speaks ex cathedra about Church doctrine.
He thinks it means like when Mickey Mouse puts on a wizard's hat.

I am in favor of Odilo Pedro Scherer from Brazil. Remember in 1978 the Cardinals elected Karol Wojtyla, then we saw what happened in the next 13 years in Eastern Europe.

The nationality of the Pope means nothing.It's what's in his heart,his soul,his mind.Italian Pope...German Pope...Polish Pope....Chinese Pope....Nigerian Pope...Brazilian Pope,so what!
It's the soul and the spirit that counts.

lacrew ~:” Obviously does not have a deep understanding of infallibility.”
My understanding is that infallibility occurs only when the Pope is speaking ‘ Ex Cathedra ‘

A.N.W. should stick to things he understands. But he’s never been able to resist attacking Christians. He considers himself an expert at it.

The intellectual mosquito Funny... and accurate.
And you've met people like this. They tend to have a fairly high opinion of themselves. Effectively, they regard themselves as infallible. If only they could see the irony.

That has always been the problem for traditionalists or conservatives in any sphere of lifechurch, politics, family life. How far do you want to go back? It is not a matter of going back to the past, it is a matter using accumulated wisdom. You don't have to reinvent the wheel.
Or as Kipling said:
"And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all. "

I’m not a Catholic but I am tired of all the hostile, snarky writing on the Pope. As am old, tired man, I completely understand Benedict’s decision to retire. He clearly sees his human fallibility and doesn’t want to inflict it on his church either by inaction or mistaken action.
Ironically, Arinze may give the church the least “diversity” in doctrine and be the better choice. However, I don’t really have a dog in this fight other Than my wishing Catholics well.

Sure, he's been a columnist for the British press.
That means he writes about things he doesn't know about.
Not sure about the rest. Wilson was an atheist for a while. Before that he was Catholic. Before that he was Anglican. Now he's Anglican again.

Old ratzinger would have quit several years ago, but he was so into dressing in luxuious silken gowns, slippers and capes.
Maybe, Obammi should be allowed to select the next pope. He'd make sure the new pope wasn't queer as a 3 dollar Bill. Rev. Pope Jerry Wright has a nice ring to it, you vile Americans!

Yes.
And this author flippantly talks about a potential stable of ex-popes that are infallible....but by definition, only one pope at a time could ever teach ‘ex cathedra’....
And like alot of non-catholics, his tone equates it to some cartoonish super-power that might help him pick the right lottery number.

Why do clowns who have no concept of Papal Infallibility, grant unto themselves the same authority, when it come to interpreting Scripture?
