Butter vs. Margarine: New Research Reveals Which is Healthier

Margarine isn't better for your heart than butter — it's worse, according to a new analysis of a 40-year-old study. For 50 years, health experts and organizations, including the American Heart Association, have urged people to replace butter and other saturated fats in their diets with vegetable oils to reduce the risk of heart disease. Millions of Americans responded by replacing butter with margarine made from omega-6 polyunsaturated vegetable oils found in corn and safflower oil.

Decades later, however, heart disease is still the leading cause of death in both American men and women, and a recent analysis of data collected from 1966 to 1973 indicates that replacing butter and other saturated fats with vegetable oils may have increased the risk of heart disease instead of reducing it.

I think we all admire you.

When I was 11 years old I understood the Love of Christ. Admire that.

I am supposedly the shop foreman in a small cabinet shop. My boss, to prove some relevance, calls a daily morning meeting. I show up early, and just go to work. I was late for that last meet (why tell me what the F I'm supposed to be doing when I'm already doing it) and when I showed covered in sawdust my boss said "Oh, LOOK. Pigpens here".

Sooo... there is the other half of the country that wants to take all that away, jail us, and even worse

THAT WAS YOU.

too many people on our side are unable to comprehend the pure evil that they represent

THAT WAS YOU.

Within my context.

PS: Don't take it personally. Unless that is you.

From my own deductions I think that polyunsaturated vegetable oils are also a leading contributor to the rise of the acid reflex syndrome, and other digestional complaints. I wish they would do a study on that.

Also, I have read studies that indicate them in the increase of tumors and cancers.

I remember when I decided to feed my animals "health food" that contained canola oil. All my cats and my dog grew fatty tumors. I studied canola oil on the net and stopped giving them the "health food" and all of their tumors went away save one that one of my cats still has. Also, when they were on that food they became somewhat lethargic and their coats were dull. The main difference that I could see in the ingredient list was the canola oil being it's main oil.

I have never seen Land O Lakes advertise that “it taste just like margarine.”

Yeah, how about that, eh?

Unsalted. Yum.

Tillamook extra sharp cheddar is darned good as well.

Studies have suggested heavy use of Margarine can cause one to develop extremely large whip-worms, from larva imbedded in Margarine during the manufacturing process.

In several cases involving affected patients, they had to be placed on their stomachs with their mouths propped open. Raw meat was placed just outside the mouth and when the worms exited the mouth towards the meat, the worm was actually grabbed by the physician and pulled out in order to remove the giant parasite.

I remember the OLEO signs at the Illinois-Wisconsin border. When was margarine allowed to be sold in Wisconsin?

Bought some of that today and used it on popcorn tonight! Goooood stuff! But expensive, $5.99 for what was pictured in your post.

That reminds me of the old Amish cure for worms, which is to sit in several hallons of milk for a couple of hours. Supposedly when done the milk would be filled with the worms that were enticed to come out for the milk. Yuk, but maybe effective! Many will do this once a year.

Seems like most of the chefs on the cooking shows I watch insist on unsalted butter.

Unsalted butter simply tastes better, especially in a sauce like a buerre blanc. I only use salted butter in shortbread.

That’s not all. Many manufacturers now use anti-bloating agents during the heating process. After cooling the product, the margarine is then misted by sprayers which contain synthetic butter flavoring agents and compounds which are very similar to real butter. These synthetics are also a by-product from the cardboard industry, used to layer and stick the cardboard together, giving it a firm consistency.
