Stranger helps reunite IE man with dog that was taken away

It's rare that a grown man cries in public, but when Dave Thomas thought he was going to lose his dog, he couldn’t stop the tears. The San Bernardino, Calif., resident had been arrested after failing to appear in court for two traffic violations, and his best friend, Buzz Lightyear, was impounded. Thomas was told he needed $400 to get the dog back — half of it by the following Wednesday — or the adoption process would begin. It was Friday, and he had $6 in his pocket. That's when Maria Sanchez, a regular visitor to the shelter, saw Thomas in tears outside Buzz's cage and snapped this photo. She put the pic online and almost instantly, strangers donated the money to get Buzz out and have him neutered, which the shelter required. On Tuesday morning, the two were reunited. [Source]

spaying the female affects the hormones as well, the ovaries are removed.

fixing animals for most people who want them as pets (not breeding) as generally a positive thing. it makes both sexes less aggressive, less impulsive, less detructive, and in some cases makes the difference between an animal you really don’t want to live with and one that is joy to live with. i have viewed it as allowing the animal’s actual personality a chance to dominate their behavior choices, rather than be controlled by their hormones, whch fluctuate and make them more unpredictable and cause them to take actions they would not otherwise do if the hormone levels weren’t over-riding their natural personality (or animality, you get what i mean).

as with anything medical/surgical, a real good veterinarian is crucial.

How exactly is she being punished? The way I understand it, He just wants ALL the money that was donated for him and his dog.

If she hadn't taken the pictures, there wouldn't have been ANY money for him and his dog would have been dead. How's about them apples? The guy can't be that destitute, he had two traffic charges so apparently he drives a car. The video shows him talking on a cell phone. Now he's talking legal action. San Bernardino, a great place to be destitute indeed.

Dave should be thankful for what he got, if he gets too greedy he's just racking up more bad Karma...

Regards,
GtG

After reading this story I feel better for Dave Thomas but worse for the dog. The mutt would definitely be better off if he were adopted by a responsible person.

She had offered to use the extra money to pay any bills; she just wouldn’t give him the cash.

Unless any of the checks were written to him, the money that was donated was to help him get the dog out, not for anything else.

I don’t know about the Slander, but the GL and Embezzlement are criminal acts. A Prosecutor could easily pick it up whether she pays him off or not. And, she doesn’t want to give him the cash, it’ll go straight into the hole in his arm. Would you? The money was given for the dog’s rescue from the shelter, not him, but he wants it for himself. If I were her, I’d split it up and refund it to the people who donated, if that’s possible/practical.

Maybe you think he’s entitled, and you may be right. But he lost the dog in the first place because he got tossed in jail for unpaid traffic tickets. I have a sneaking suspicion he’s not a 100% responsible person, and she knows it, having met him. Which I haven’t.

The bottom line is he got help from well-meaning people, and he’s demanding more than he needed simply because it’s there. It’s a welfare mentality.

Spayed and neutered dogs & cats have much more stable personalities with none of those crazy makig hormones in their system.

Dogs are not people and with crazy making hormones in their system they can be dangerous. Then again there are unnameable groups of dangerous people in the world, who spaying and neutering of them, would probably make the world a better place.

Neutering the female doesn’t alter the female, she is still female.

I have to agree..the guy is a bum.

He got his dog back, a miracle since he only had $6, and still wants more.

And he has some how found the money to sue the lady responsible for saving his dog.

What a world...what a world.

I’ve owned a lot of dogs. A male dog de balled, at a young age, remains perpetually young, like a puppy their whole life. The unaltered male dogs will mellow with age and tend to respond to authority better.

Of you can’t train and handle the unaltered dog then don’t have one. Using cruel surgery to make it easy on you is not the way to go IMO. Neutering is like Ritalin for dogs.

Here's a pretty cool story about honesty and appreciation for having character.

How's that for good karma? Homeless man is given $100,000 by well-wishers after he returned diamond engagement ring to bride after it fell into his cup

Summary:
*Sarah Darling mistakenly dropped her ring into Billy Ray Harris’ collection cup Rather than pawning it, he kept it safe expecting the owner would return
*To show their appreciation Darling and her husband have setup a fundraising page to help out Harris
*The site has raised more than $100,000 so far

Speak of character. FTA:

'I like it, but I don't think I deserve it,' he told KCTV.

'What I actually feel like is, "what has the world come to when a person who returns something that doesn't belong to him and all this happens?'" he said.

Makes *me* want to kick in a few bucks.

It absolutely baffles me why those little rascal shows aren’t still played on TV all the time. They are absolutely timeless, pure genius because any kid can relate to them not to mention they are funny as hell. But no, I can’t remember the last time I saw one. I remember growing up in the 70s in New York EVERYDAY they would play them on channel 11 (or was it channel 9?) so much so that to this day I remember every episode.

Thanks for the “feel good” story!

Sometimes the news gets way too depressing.
