Guess some people just can’t be bothered to find out how to disallow certain unwanted actions by turning off/opting-out various functions; or to read instructions & learn to use their technology properly.

Not sure what this guy is talking about. You can control your image on facebook by deciding what you do or do not decide to post. Just dont post to blogs using your facebook identity. Some like CBS marketplace require an identity like facebook and do not allow anonymous posting. Just ignore those.

I figured this out many months ago and got out. I still have a fb public page for my band, but I’m not identified by name, I go in under another band member’s email addy.
I have another page under a dummy name with no friends and no communications. I use it to store things I want to post later using the band page.
FB screws with me, I screw with fb.

Ads? Tracking-your-use is such a big deal? If you don't like it, there are tools and behavior that will stop it. Eh.
I ditched my Facebook account earlier this year.
I could no longer take giving aid to Obama cronies.
I like Facebook a lot more since I joined the prayer warriors to pray for children with cancer and other illnesses.
