Surface RT is popular, but the most-used Windows 8 devices are cheap notebooks

RT is/was a moronic product.

it was a “do something” product to buy time to launch the pro which runs full windows products.

the price point is wrong, the limitations are wrong, and the capacity is too limited.

If MS had lauched the pro with a LOW price point then it would matter.

Instead the suits are trying to create a ZUNE.....

Several of those Surface commercials are unnerving. They remind me of the Opening and Closing ceremonies at the Bejing Olympics with their lock-step routines.

Hearding the masses.

Windows 8 is a monstrosity inflicted on us by microsoft in an effort to leverage its desktop dominence to muscle its way into the tablet market. It may well have the exact opposite effect - it may be the last straw which convinces desktop uses to give up and completely migrate to Apple. Ballmer is blowing smoke here.

REM: I am a Windows 8 Pro user on ONE of my six Windows devices. The rest are Win 7 Pro, 32 and 64 bit.

Full disclosure: I DETEST the Win 8 experience. Sorry I invested in upgrading even one PC.

What’s my point? An article about Win 8 tablets that (apparently) avoids pointing out overall share of Win 8 tablets versus the DOMINANT iOS and Android tablets is LAUGHABLE.

Sell your MS stock if you ask me.

“I’m super-glad we did Surface,” Ballmer said. “I think it is important—and not just for Microsoft but for the entire Windows ecosystem—to see integrated hardware and software.”

Are you not super-DUPER glad, Steve? Windows ecosystem apparently exists in the multiverse, lol.

I like the Idea of every member of the family having his own laptop and tablet. Sounds like the execution hasn’t been great. I think it’s a great idea, though.
