What do you know about the Jeep Patriot?
me

Posted on 02/26/2013 1:23:27 PM PST by 1rudeboy

I'm thinking of buying one with the Freedom Drive II 4WD package. Seems a little underpowered, though.

But I won't be hauling, or doing any serious off-roading.

They are a piece of crap and not a real Jeep.

Run away.

Not really responsive to your question, but I wouldn’t buy anything built by the UAW. Just my personal position.

There is no Jeep worthy of name but the Wrangler.

I bought a Jeep Cherokee in 1995. It was the first new car I’d ever bouht...put over 250K on that thing. Really loved it. Not so much of a Chrysler lover anymore...even though my wife drives a 300. I’m in a Taurus and love it.

Someone at work has one, they like it and it seems to be reliable.

It’s not a Jeep. It’s what the French think a Jeep ought to be, but it is certainly not a Jeep. Nor is it designed for those who have actually bought a real Jeep.

Find a good used one pre-bailout. A Cherokee sport or a Wrangler.

I have a fried who bought a Patriot and it sucked.

He had nothing but transmission troubles. After three transmissions, he traded it back for a Grand Cherokee and has never looked back.

I own a 98 Cherokee 4WD 2dr and it is awesome.

I have over 240K miles on it and it is still going strong.

I can go anywhere in the winter.

The Jeep Liberty is the Cherokee replacement and the Compass is better then the Patriot every day.

Over priced, soon to be made in China. I’d look more, myself.

I work for a company that has the Patriot, Chevy Equinox & Honda CRV for the outside reps to utilize. The reps that drive the Patriot hate it..complain about engine noise, acceleration/power & stalling issues.

But take a look on the web, Edmunds.com..Cars.com etc..have personal customer reviews/complaints.

I just bought a ‘13 Wrangler in December and couldn’t be happier. This being my first Jeep I must admit that I’m surprised at how fun it has been driving, even with the slightly elevated noise from the soft top. Has plenty of power from the 3.6 V6 (285HP) and it MOVES when you step on the gas.

Over the years my family has owned a 84, 86, 96 Cherokees (XJ) 95 and 08 Grand Cherokees (ZJ) and a 88 Grand Wagoneer.

I know Jeeps. Jeeps have been my friends. And the Patriot is no Jeep.

Then again, except for the Grand Cherokee line (maybe) there hasn’t been a real Jeep since the previous generation Wrangler (TJ). I’m actually considering a Toyota FJ Cruiser for my next vehicle.

Made by a company that uses your tax dollars to perpetuate the UAW, whose members may, or may not, care how the vehicle is assembled, depending on how they feel about the company on any given day.

Buy a Toyota, you won’t regret it.

(btw, I bought my last of 4 new Jeep products in 2000.)
