A Texas man said one of the more unusual consequences of this week's windstorms was his house being covered in tumbleweeds.
Josh Pitman of Midland said Monday's winds caused the tumbleweeds to first gather on the left side of his home and they soon spread to his roof and wrapped around the house, KBMT-TV, Beaumont, reported Tuesday.
"I didn't even know this many tumbleweeds existed," Pitman said.
Pitman said he spent most of an afternoon clearing the tumbleweeds from one side of his house and putting them in a ditch behind his home.
"I called the fire department and they said that since it was on my yard, it was considered yard waste and that I had to take care of it, they or the city wouldn't be able to do anything. So I figured, I got to do what I got to do," Pitman said.
Pitman said he expects the cleanup to take until the end of the week.

In other words, they couldn’t be bothered.
Nice of them.
You’d think a fire hazard would be intheir interests because after all, a house fire is on your property too when they respond...
Unfortunately, they are not tumbleweeds. They are Tribbles.

wow! I think I saw a Twilight Zone (maybe Outer Limitss) about this very thing.
Been there done that with some huge tumbleweeds. I even felt a little guilty but if I pulled them with a rake out the center of the street they would roll down the street a long ways into the construction area
Darks shrugs it off, pretending to have nothing to do with this......

Capturing them and destroying them is just wrong. They sequester CO2 after all.
By putting them into a ditch behind his house, isn’t he just creating a rattlesnake haven?
One Christmas when I was little, my Mom wired 3 together and sprayed frocking on them for our Christmas tree.No lights...too scared of a fire...it was a lean year for us.

Yeah, and he’s probably not allowed to burn them. I’d get a big wood chipper, and a couple of “immigrants” And reduce the weeds to mulch.
Im with ya on that one. One year Ma sprayed a tumbleweed green and hung little gold ornaments on it. And you know, that will always be my favorite Christmas tree.
Pretty common here in New Mexico. Woke up the other day to a couple dozen covering my fairly small backyard. Tossed them over my back wall so they could be wild and free again. Thorns just tore up my hands (through the gloves) and arms.
