Newser) Honey Boo Boo is in hot water with the Girl Scouts ... even though she's not a Girl Scout. The tiny reality star started hawking Girl Scout cookieson behalf of a friend who actually is a scouton her Facebook page, until the organization shut the whole thing down, TMZ reports. You see, much to the consternation of many a Thin Mint addict, Girl Scout cookies aren't allowed to be sold online because the whole point is to teach scouts people skills, among other lessons.
It's a bummer not just for cookie fans but for Honey Boo Boo fans, because the treats came complete with autographed boxes, signed photos, and "extremely detailed Facebook updates about how the shipping process was sporadically affected by the health problems experienced by the familys patriarch, 'Sugarbear,'" Vanity Fair reports. Silver lining: The troop will get credit for the sales Honey Boo Boo (real name Alana Thompson) already made. Her mother, known as Mama June, previously told TMZ they had sold more than 400 boxes.
It seems to me that if she was capable of selling 400 boxes, she didn’t need to learn a thing.
This controversy seems a bit contrived. Maybe HBB (the show, not the kid) needs some viewership as the flash in the pan is flashing out - I mean, a lippy little child, an ignorant mother, and the half-dozen others in the zany-whacky bunch never get old, but still...
“The tiny reality star” HUH!
Yet parents and grandparents are allowed to take the order forms to work, where the girls have absolutely no connection to the sales process or the customer. Got it.
I'm not a Honey Boo Boo fan, but even I can see the hypocrisy here.
I shudder when I think about how far the current Girl Scouting movement is from what the founder had in mind.
I haven’t bought a box of GSA cookies since they got in bed with the Planned Predator organization. So, I don’t even give a rat’s ass what they’re complaining about.
Why would you want your daughter associated with the leftwing associated girl scouts and their pro-gay, pro-abortion allies?
Who would have ever thought that the Jerry Springer type lifestyle would become normal in America. Things in this country have changed tremendously since I was born in 1965.
My family is nothing like the one on HBB but you know what those people on that show seem to be great parents and they love their children they have fun together .. The mother put the money away for her children..It is not a crime to be happy and they seem to be just that..
Stop calling them names it isn't nice what some say about the mother..not everyone is June Clever type.. Coldwater Creek, these comments are not meant for you I understand what you were saying..
She probably did.
Let's see...the mother has four girls from four different father's...she's a grandmother at age 35...she exploits her 8 year old for money and feeds her Red Bull and Mountain Dew cocktails...oldest daughter is carrying on the proud family tradition of having children out of wedlock and dropping out of school...yep, sounds like parent of the year material to me. Oh, and they're Obama supporters. Not that that should be any surprise given their family story.
Really? Then why do the Scouts allow girls to turn the selling part over to their parents? (I get so tired of getting hit up for Girl Scout cookies at work!)
This is what I refer to as a “Cadillac problem.”
That’s a good point. I can’t remember the last time I bought Girl Scout cookies from a Girl Scout.
My now 25 year old g/daughter was a G.S., she lived in a different state from us and would call from time to time and speak to her grandma and me.
She called one day and grandma answered the phone where she was in another room from me. When she finished talking to grandma, she wanted to talk to me. My wife brought me the phone and went to another room. It turns out that the little stink sold me and grandma each a half dozen boxes of cookies.
Nothing new here, Jerry Springer had a lock on it twenty years ago.
Pretty soon, a new branch of “Honey Boo Boo Bail Bonds” will be coming to a corner near you!
