Miami Woman Wants to Clear Her Name After Police Release Photo of Her

Tasha Malek said she wants to clear up her name

Tasha Malek was just going about her business, selling medical implements to hospitals, when her sister called.

"You're on the news channels in Vegas saying you're wanted and that you have a long criminal background, you're a prostitute and I'm like, what?" said Malek.

It started with last week's triple homicide shootout in Las Vegas. On Thursday, police arrested the suspect, Ammar Harris.

But when they were still looking for the former miami resident, Las Vegas police released a photo of Harris and Malek, apparently confusing her with Yenesis Alfonzo.

Police say Alfonzo was in the car with Harris during the shootout, but they put out two pictures of Malek, saying the woman in the photo was wanted for questioning.

"It took about a day and a half for them to believe that it was not me, the pictures don't look anything like me. They finally removed it late last night, but they didn't release a statement saying this girl isn't the one we're looking for, we made a mistake. They just took the pictures down, and the damage has already been done," Malek said.

"This is devastating for her, it's devastating for her professionally, personally, and emotionally, this has been a rough couple of days for her," said attorney Mike Grieco.

Malek says it's tough to explain to her customers and to her fans that she was not involved. She admits to knowing Harris when he live in her building. Malek was on a reality TV show called the "Bad Girls Club."

"I'm just trying to clear up my name and my face because you know that's the most important thing, first my safety and to let everyone know it wasn't me," she said.

Even though I am NOT a lawyer, I was prepared to handle her case pro bono for maybe 10% of what I could get for this young lady in front of a jury.
I was 100% for her etc till we came to the ‘Reality TV show and Bad Girls’ participation. Not that there is anything wrong with that and the proper term could be ‘youthful indiscretions’, (sounds so much better when a 70 yr old Senator is explaining something away that happened when he was a 30 yr old Congressman), one has got to start realizing that actions do, sometimes, result in a not so nice situation.

I agree with some of the other posters, give her her 15 minutes and, if she stays in the same field, people will be beating down her door to either come work for them OR sell to them.

How can you "handle her case" if you're not an attorney?

if you’re not an attorney?

Maybe I was being a tad sarcastic....<:

The inference being that it wouldn’t have even taken a lawyer to win her case - UNTIL, of course, her past ‘actions’ surfaced....though maybe not illegal etc, but things like that tend to turn peoples minds....the Judge saying “The jury will disregard that last remark”.... we all know that is probably going to be the main thing on the mind of most people.

GUILTY!!!
Wanna know why?

"Malek was on a reality TV show called the "Bad Girls Club."

This show is the worst of the worst. This show and shows like it are why young ladies grow up thinking a non-stop drunken party is a normal lifestyle. Women being drunken, promiscuous, obnoxious, bar hoppers with no other direction in life whatsoever besides seeing who can be the most odnoxious.
Now, normally, many moons ago, drunken promiscuous naked females wouldn't have bothered me a bit. But to see these trashy sluts act that way on TV now disgusts me.
On looks alone... NOT GUILTY.
