SPRINGFIELD, Ill.,- An Illinois lawmaker is trying to ban the sale of lion meat in his state, which he says is sold in at least two places statewide.

Rep. Luis Arroyo, D-Chicago, has proposed legislation to ban the sale and slaughter of lion meat in the state of Illinois, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

"There are people that have them and raise them, but you're going to raise them and eat them?" Arroyo said, "It's just inhumane. Those are zoo animals. Then you talk about eating elephants, eating all kinds of zoo animals. There's other meats we can eat besides the lions."

Arroyo said he knew of at least two places in the state that lion meat was available for purchase.

Under his legislation, anyone caught selling lion meat for human consumption could be sentenced to up to one year or fined up to $25,000.

The state House of Representatives will review the bill during the spring legislative session.- An Illinois lawmaker is trying to ban the sale of lion meat in his state, which he says is sold in at least two places statewide.

I thought he did an exceptional job in “Tinman” as well. He’s a fine actor, and I wish he worked more often.

Probably so does he... [smiles]

So...all knowing, what top line mammalian carnivores are you eating?

I stand by my comment. Especially with fish. But then again, I don’t like fish, or lobster, or crab, or shark, tuna or marlin. The occasional shellfish, like shrimp or bi-valves like clams are barely edible, mussels and oysters are not. Squid, octopus, and similar are just plain gross.

You think that you’re so damned smart, elucidate us all with your culinary expertise. We await your pronouncements.

A man walks into a bar with a giraffe. He says, “A beer for me and one for my giraffe.” And they stand around drinking for hours until the giraffe passes out on the floor. The man pays the tab and gets up to leave. The bartender says, “Hey! You’re not going to leave that lyin’ on the floor, are you?” The man says, “That’s not a lion, it’s a giraffe.”
