Other times, writers just need a friend. And while they say that a dog is a man's best friend, these writers each found solace in another four-legged companion.

Hemingway loved his casts. They became feral in Key West. His house is now a national park and the cats get zero help from the national park service even though they have the free run of the house.

I’ve heard that some do-gooder idiots were trying to get the Hemingway House staff to put the cats in cages. No idea how it turned out.

And the *acid?* Jones, the cat, was probably a guniea pig for testing the brown acid.

No one has mentioned Steve Martin [he's penned a few boks, none of which are really good, unless you want to read them B4 bed, instead of taking a sleeping pill.

A cat would have egg'd himinto it. A dog would have wagg'd it's tail after as if to say "Do that again!!!".
