If you’re drinking that then why order coffee at all and just make hot chocolate?

Americans drink coffee by the mug. In Argentina they drink these Dixie cups of coffee. So when I went to Argentina, my hosts gave me this Dixie cup of coffee. I laughed and told them I drink coffee 20 oz at a time.

They warned me about drinking too much coffee. I insisted they fill a big mug up for me because during my presentations I like to have a big cup of coffee.

My turn to present. After they dragged me out of the bathroom, my 3 hour presentation was done in 20 minutes. My hosts, in Spanish told the audience what happened and everyone had a laugh. We Q and A’d the rest of the time and it was actually fun rattling off answers. It was like a 2 1/2 hour lightning round.

Needless to say, at my presentation the next day, I had a 5 oz cup and a large water on the podium.

I sometimes add a little unsweetened cocoa or cinnamon to mine, but these days I can only drink decaf, and rarely.

Because I already have hot chocolate, and it’s really thick and decadent. ;o]

While visiting my daughter in Istanbul, I was invited in for a Turkish coffee. Our hostess served it with small squares of chocolate. It was the only way I could get it down. UGH!

I had a fiancee’ (late) back in the day, who had a twin brother that lived in Venezuela. The fiancee’ always brought back packages of coffee. The packages were vacuumed-packed, (an unheard-of process, then) and a little hot water run over the coffee with a filter holding it was enough for a cup of coffee.

But you had better be within a few steps of the bathroom when that stuff hit your stomach!

Believe me, I know whereof you speak! ;o]

If you get this excited about coffee...then I would suggest you take some Adderal.

I prefer decaf, but actually, tea and coffee have less caffeine than a chocolate bar does. I think the “power of suggestion” is at work with “tea and coffee,” where no one thinks about the caffeine in cocoa. I just drink what I like.

I could just have my cat eat some Ethiopian Yirgacheffee and comb through his litter box.

Too bad we have not picked up on the Australian “long black”, a double-shot of espresso hot water. The long black is similar to an Americano, which is made by adding hot water to the espresso shot. However a long black retains the crema and is more strongly flavored.

Even decaf is difficult for me these days. I miss strong coffee. Oddly, when I do eat chocolate, it doesn’t seem to bother me, but the few times a year that I have chocolate are Valentine’s Day and the Christmas season. I remember rising early on Saturday mornings and having a couple of bracing cups of coffee before going out to spend the day gardening during the spring, summer and autumn. Those were the days.

Chicory, in WWII in Germany, was called “ersatz coffee.” Not thanks.

Chicory. It’s not for me. I tried it once and didn’t care for it. I guess it’s a regional thing.

Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it. It’s for discriminating tasters. ;o]
