It has just enjoyed one of the most successful installments of its 50 year run.

So it will come as no surprise to fans that studio bosses have confirmed a 24th James Bond movie will hit cinemas within the next three years.

Daniel Craig, 45, will pull on his tuxedo once again, as he has already signed up to appear as the secret agent in two more films.

Tim Dalton was the last decent Bond.

Ouch. Both of those movies were painful to watch. If I had my choice I'd watch a Brosnan before a Dalton just because the plots and sets weren't as cheesy.

M is not the head of Mi6, only the 00 section.

Yes. I was just merely stating that having Liam Neeson be a hypothetical 'M' in a future Bond movie would be a slap in the face to all of MI6 (including the 00 sec.) specifically because of his Irish roots, given the ugly past between British intelligence and the IRA.

Licence to Kill was a train wreck. The Living Daylights was much better, I thought Whitaker was a horrible villain.

I would like to see Charles Dance in the next Bond movie.

Interesting choice -- as the 'villain'?

Licence to Kill was a train wreck.

FYI: It's on tonight at 8pm on G4.

It is funny you mention the Irish. Fleming was sued for plagiarism by Irish director Kevin McClory after their production team failed to produced the first Bond movie. McClory’s Estate owned the rights to make Thunderball and to the character Blofeld.

There were unproven rumors about McClory and the IRA.

I would have preferred him as M. He looks like he’s from the government.

And of course Pierce Brosnan is Irish.

I'd like to see a bearded Sean Connery as the villian. I'm serious.

I do not think anyone ever considered Bond movies as great art. They are simply action flicks.

Dance was already in one, just not prominently. The problem is that he’s too old now. He’d have been great in the 1985-1995 period.

Just can’t agree here. I really liked Dalton, and he effortlessly stepped into the role. Brosnan (or Pirs Bonbons as I dubbed him) was still doing the insufferably smug Remington Steele role from tv, doing the worst bits I expected from the ultra-cheesy Moore era. Craig is simply a soulless blonde thug... Red Grant without the charm, warmth or panache. If he got killed, I just wouldn’t care.

I liked LTK as a “Miami Vice” style vehicle (and I’m a fan of MV, but not that execrable film remake, which was almost even more insulting than the Faux Trek reboot). I kinda enjoyed Joe Don Baker in TLD. At least I could remember him as a villain. After him and Robert Davi in LTK, I’d be hard pressed to even cite the names of the male villains or their portrayers from the ‘90s onward. Thoroughly forgettable.

Watch “The Avengers” with Ralph Fiennes. Then again, maybe you’d better not.

I watched the one with Diana Rigg on 1channel. Also "The Prisoner".

I meant the film version where Connery was the villain. It was pretty... bad.

I think Barb Broccoli would be all for it - but not Michael Wilson.

Cubby Broccoli would turn in his grave at the mere thought of it...
